I'm excited! Will visit the seller on Sunday and if everything is ok, I will get the bike towed by motolimo to my place and have it safety certificate check. Can't wait ???

That's great, good luck. Just remember not to get too excited, take your time and check it over. Look for oil leaks, crash damage(scratches on bar ends, engine cases, plastics, bent levers, bent shifter/brake pedals etc), note the colour of the brake fluid and oil. Is it clean? Does the bike start and idle easily? Look at the chain and sprockets. Are they rusty and worn?
Don't just buy it because your excited. There are lots of bikes for sale if this isn't the one.

Hey Iceman,
Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that check list in mind (and in my phone aswell). I'll take my time and if there's anything listed above or anything I don't like, I'm ready to bounce to another bike seller. Security first!

Looks like you're just looking for confirmation of why your decision is right.

Either way, you've got biggers issues in life if you can't figure out the priority of a car or a motorcycle that is a toy.

Seriously, I love riding, obsessively. But part of that means loving my bike and wanting to keep it mint, which means no wet weather...need a car!

Wasn't looking for a confirmation on why my decision is right, just wanted to know if people had similar stories in terms of support (that was truly the reason of that forum) which I had my answer so I'm good now.

I get that we're all entitled to have an opinion but don't judge me; you don't know me, know what I do for living nor the type of lifestyle I have, nor what drives me to take certain decision over another at a specific moment. You're not even in a good place or walking in my shoes to say what are my "bigger issues".

OP someone else has said this but dump the girl. That status comment made me flinch.

As far as the gf goes; if there's any doubt, there is no doubt.

Inreb, i think we may need a MGTOW interjection up in here

She is right tho. Outside of very few circumstances (like living and working right downtown) not having your own vehicle is pathetic. Cars are cheap there is no excuse.

I put more mileage on my bike than my car, but I need to have a car too. As long as you have access to a car, no worries. Besides, do what you want to do. It's your life.

Yeah, but OP said that she has a car. There are still many single vehicle families around.
I'm not sure if it has been asked yet, and I'm not trying to sound racist, but @clyder is your gf, by chance, Chinese? I'm only asking because my understanding is that divide between rich and poor in Chinese culture runs deep. And it is a very traditional view, maybe one that is too narrow minded being worried about status.
The poster that was saying bigger issues, I don't think was trying to offend. What I think he was trying to say is that this really isn't about a bike or a car; it's about control.
The one thing you need to keep in mind is riding needs you to be aware of your surroundings. If she's giving you a hard time as you're about to go for a ride, yes the bike destresses you, but before that kicks in, you need your spidey senses on 120%, because if you're thinking about what she said/did (why don't you sell that bike?! Why don't you get a car?!) That is energy not being spent on being focused on the road.

Youre kidding right? Average cost of owning even a small car after all expenses is 9k/year. Fuel, insurence, repair, oil changes, tires, parking cost plus plus plus.. Hardly cheap

I live at Yonge and Finch. Rent is approximately $1,600 for a single. Everything is accessible by the subway. Moving further nets around $1300 for a single (not along the subway line). A $1,000-$5,000 car would cost around $100 a month for insurance. But when you add in fuel and parking the amount will be closer to $400. If your employer gives you free parking (which many places in DT and midtown don't) then have fun. I intentionally chose to move on the subway line because:

  1. No need for car
  2. Parking costs far too much money
  3. You have to sit through 30 minutes to 60 minutes of idiots who can't drive; I'd rather play my 3DS. Look at porn on my phone. Or anything else but drive.

I can walk and carry groceries from the Food Basics next door because I'm a man and not a little ***** that's afraid to carry groceries.

Oh, and the kicker is that my girl friend has a car and is fully supportive that the only vehicle I have isn't even street legal. She's never once hounded on me for the amount of I've dumped into the bike. She's also fully aware that BMW, Audi, VW, etc. etc. are all moronic status symbols.

Statistics, btw, show that the average person with a net worth of $10,000,000 owns a car worth less than $40,000 so a large portion of the "status symbol" cars are living way out of their comfort zone.

She's probably Chinese. I'm Taiwanese (technically Chinese) and know Chinese girls who want to marry rich and drive a BMW. Absolutely love wrecking their ego when I show them how slow their $60,000 status symbol is.
