Stupid hurts ... don't be an idiot

That is an absurd statement.

It's one thing to break laws (and I'm the first to say that we have quite a few laws that are overly restrictive), it's quite another when you start putting the general public at significant risk by doing so.

Keep in mind that you weren't there to see the incident, and I was - and it sounds like another forum member was there and saw it, too.

what the hell kind or response is that ?

What i said is that you sound like an ******* for writing " and You. Dumb. Idiot. You are giving the rest of us a bad name" and for saying he deserves what he gets. How is that an absurd statement ?

your statement is absurd. I was reading the paper today, and I read some story about some guy that robbed a bank. man i hate that guy, hes giving all guys a bad name
the news reported a car accident caused by a drunk driver.. man i hate that guy, he's giving all drivers a bad name. Guy videotaped a Movie and burned it to a disk..
I hate guys like that, I have a videocamera, and he's giving me a bad name.

Sounds like you're worried that his actions will cause people to think of you as a criminal ?
if you think that, maybe you should be a hermit and live in a cave.

Im not saying the guy was a saint, But i know this. his actions wont reflect how people look at me.
because if i dont know you, i dont care what you think about me.

Do you have a company car? I didn't think so.

So OP "heard" something but didnt see anything and didnt talk to the rider to ask what's going on but according to the other drivers that where all equipped with video and rad...scratch that, other drivers that are actual scene reconstruction expert...scratch that again, people that "saw" something paint him the obvious picture that this person is obviously stupid.

What if his kid got his by a bus and he just made a bad judgement call...

some folks are sure quick to pull the trigger.

It was a loud noise but probably not second gear type loud.

A good old-fashioned Internet brawl. You guys do this often?

He rides a gixxer! Rush him!

I wouldn't worry about MC riders getting a bad name--we already have one, as the insurance companies have made abundantly clear. The turkeys stunting/crashing their bikes (all brands, nobody get huffy) are now just additional exclamation marks at the end of the sentence.

Post count 123 only comes around once and you wasted it with this?

Sorry what thread am i in again? haha

Oh right, well there's still a lot of loose ends so lets just wait and see what happens. Sure he was riding aggressively and probably running from the cops, but at the end of the day hope he GWS to own up to his mistakes and MAYBE learn from it

Reading comprehension failure. Let me recount it AGAIN.

I first heard the bike (which got me looking in the right direction), then saw the bike approach the intersection (and it was doing nowhere near 120 km/h at this point - but the rider had slowed down SOMEwhat and this was readily apparent from the sound of the engine - STILL it was unusually fast for an approach to an intersection that had stopped traffic in it), and saw everything up until JUST short of the moment of impact, mostly because there was a cube van in the right lane and the point where he hit the curb was on the other side of that van (and to a lesser extent, a tree in the parking lot). The driver that the rider had just passed on the right got a much better view, because they were immediately behind the rider in question, and it was pretty apparent that there were LOTS of witnesses to this rider's behaviour, and none of them were favorable (nor is mine). How much clearer do you want it to be. I can also state with certainty that there were no skid marks leading up to the collision scene.

The rider was in no position to have a conversation with, at that time.

What if his kid got his by a bus and he just made a bad judgement call...

No one knows why the rider chose to do what they did (and it has since become apparent that it may have been a run-from-the-cops situation - the SIU wouldn't be involved otherwise).

That doesn't make passing traffic between the right lane and the curb any less of a bonehead move.

I'd wager that the OP is referring to a lot more than just random public perception....go pay insurance, get ostracized professionally, via family etc. and at every turn, someone has a story of some meathead doing something beyond stupid on a sportbike. His actions WILL reflect how people look at you. Hey, look at it this way; public perception mattered enough to Honda in the beginning for them to market specifically that "nice" people rode honda motorcycles. Remember those ads? "you meet the nicest people on a honda".

Reading comprehension failure.

No comprehension failure, your still saying you didn't SEE anything.

You stated yourself that no one knows so your plain old assuming, maybe that car that you claim saw it all clipped him and he was trying to get away from it cause the driver was trying to hit him.

Your story has no legs man, not your fault. It's a nice try but I expect better from you.

Yep more and more i see street riders doing stupid things. Not lumping everyone together ..

For example Kudos to the OTR gang who was up near Barrie this past weekend, and came down the 400.

Morons come to mind. Im sure there were a few calls to 911 about your stupidity.

What is this OTR Gang? I saw some peeps wearing the same OTR patch leather vests and posing around for a "music video" in mississauga - all on crotch rockets

Never heard of them

Your logic here is a bit misleading. The OP drew no relationship between the riders age, gender or ownership of the implement to the incident in question. More accurate analogies would be:

That bank robber gives gun advocates a bad name.
That drunk driver gives drinkers a bad name.

The rider's riding habits are what attracted the ire (and rightfully so). And yes... the rider deserves whatever he gets.

I saw from a few seconds prior to the collision, up to just short of the collision. That's not "nothing". It was enough to see that the rider was (a) approaching the intersection too quickly for the conditions, and (b) in a completely inappropriate place on the road. I also saw the position of the rider after the collision and the position of the bike after the collision, and I saw that there were no skid marks. That's what I saw.

That I did not see the actual collision itself, and that I didn't see what happened in the preceding minute or two ... is why I opted to leave it to others to make their statements to the police. There were most certainly others who had a better view of the incident than I did.

But to say that I saw nothing ... is not accurate. What's described above (and previously) is what I saw. What I saw is PLENTY to draw the conclusion that the rider was being an idiot.

You stated yourself that no one knows so your plain old assuming, maybe that car that you claim saw it all clipped him and he was trying to get away from it cause the driver was trying to hit him.

There were multiple witnesses on scene to this rider's behaviour leading up to the collision.

If the situation were as you suggest, then the SIU wouldn't be investigating it ...

Your story has no legs man, not your fault. It's a nice try but I expect better from you.

What has been stated, is what it is. No assumptions, no exaggerations, no wild stories about why. If things are not known, it's stated that they're not known. I call 'em the way I see 'em. Always.
