While private, the cops *usually* have an open invitation from the property owner when it comes to parking lots, as was the case with Woodbine/16th back in the day. As for media, I'm not "media". I don't report news nor was it submitted to a news outlet.
I get what you're saying about posting it, however, if someone doesn't want their photo/video/likeness used then they can take the appropriate action to ensure it doesn't get used. They could have a) left without doing a burnout/wheelie/drift out of the lot with enough time for me to watch a little then think I should pull out my phone, unlock it, open the camera, switch it to video, start recording then focus. They didn't do a quick little stunt... This was drawn out... b) could have taken the stunt show elsewhere and requested no cameras or c) remove plates and identifying markers.
When you're in public you have no right to the assumption of privacy. I can take anyone's photo/video (as long as it's not infringing on personal rights ie upskirt etc) in public places. I'm speaking generally outdoors as this was. I've done a lot of reading up on this particular subject in the past. Go on any photographer's forums and you will surely find a similar subject.
Let's say an undercover cop was there with his high def camera recording the entire "show" to present as evidence at one of their upcoming court cases just to show that the stunting ticket they were previously issued is likely deserved?
Again, there are lots of people out there with cameras, even in the lot as I saw. If they don't want to be recorded, then the onus is on THEM to not be recorded, on any media format they desire.
