Ha! Whaddya got against West Ham!?

Joking aside, ManU's calamitous transfer business this summer hasn't helped. Players who want to leave, and the club wants to leave, but nobody will buy. Players they want to buy and the selling club is desperate to sell, but the player refuses to join. No forward options except the aging wantaway, a terrible midfield stuck with middling players like McTominay and Fred, and a defense with zero confidence and Harry Maguire doing his best Phil Jones impression weekly...

Time will tell which megaclub is in bigger trouble between them and Barcelona selling the family jewels to allow them to spend big like it's the glory days. Complete with seriously shady accounting where they're counting paying themselves as part of various sales as income. The most amazing thing is they are risking losing fan ownership to predatory lenders like Goldman Sachs to do it.

That said, I'll be a lot more smug if Liverpool can put Palace away on Monday!

Should be a good one tomorrow between Chelsea and Spurs. Big stakes for two clubs with ambitions for both trophies and Champions League qualification...

Liverpool has had every bad break so far this year (including a goal line clearance just now). The first two games were mostly down to bad bounces (they dominated on xG in both), and the injuries have really added up. A hysterical fanbase full of newly minted plastics demanding that Liverpool win every trophy ever has only added to the negativity.

And some older players have really started to look tired this year. Henderson isn't his usually steady presence, Fabinho is unusually shaky, and Firmino is a shadow of his former self. Even Van Dijk has had a few moments of madness. The youngsters like Jones and Elliott have promise, but aren't quite there yet (and Jones is one of the multitude of injuries). Add FSG trying to turn a profit to overcome the losses of Covid (net spend is almost 0 so far), and pickings are thin. Also, no stability at the back again, with three different starting CB pairings in three games so far.

With a ManU side still smarting from the whoopings last year, and it was no surprise that Klopp was trying to talk them up in his pre-match. They were always going to work hard today, and an early goal is far from ideal.

They are getting their footing a bit now. Arnold is gaining confidence.

Well…I’ll just keep my mouth shut.

Horror show. Liverpool looking absolutely toothless in attack. Midfield has been absolutely dire, with no quick transition play and pressing poorly. Not normally one to look for transfers as a fix, but Henderson and Milner will not get the job done this year. Need someone closer to ready-made than the teenagers they have lined up.

Expecting City to run the league this year anyway, as it's impossible to keep up with their spending year in and out, but this will need to be sorted if Champions League plans are serious...

EDIT: 🤮

Not sure how or why that team showed up against Liverpool today…but I hope they show up for all their remaining games

Btw, did anyone else notice that a few minutes after the Liverpool goal, a commentator slipped in “and Gary Neville’s gone quiet” ??? Best laugh I’ve had in a while…almost fell off the couch .

Woof. Nothing like 90 minutes of getting all the bounces to change a supporter's outlook...

Shame that Palace couldn't catch a break with the ref and faded.

I didn’t watch the Liverpool v Bournemouth “match”. Was it as bad I expect a 9-0 game would be?

I didn't watch either, which means in the self-obsessed world of a supporter, I'm not allowed to watch another match until they lose again...

Lots of poetry in this one, as all of Liverpool has been mourning the nonsensical shooting murder of 9-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel. They did a moment of silence at 9 minutes, then sang You'll Never Walk Alone for her. Winning by 9 seems about right...

Wow.
That’s pretty incredible.

Didn't watch because I was being a bad supporter and expecting a demolition. Agreed to do other stuff as an excuse.

City will likely take the league again, I think, as I expect Arsenal to come back to earth eventually. Still, it's always nice to get one over on the bald one and his boundless riches. Also helps massively in the top four fight, as it was threatening to get a little too squeaky. Winning the league is no longer feasible, but I'm hoping they can take this newfound form and refound intensity and put together a good Champions League campaign before UEFA ruins the competition.

So - The GOAT and his compatriots lost 2-1 to the Saudis. If that’s not one of the biggest upsets in modern times, not sure what is.

Insane. I was expecting a 5-0 drubbing or more... Saudis are usually the WC whipping boys.

Not in my lifetime but maybe North Korea beating Italy 1-0 in 1966 comes close.

Tunisia v Denmark was a great watch this morning.

One more sleep. Let’s Go !!

I switched out my lecture today...good game and I think the students preferred it to the "regular programming".
