2-0 Villa now. Liverpool just need a goal now.

Got the goal, but so did City. At least they went out with heads held high. Stupid Gundogan.

Leeds survives, Burnley finally down, Tottenham takes 4th, Arsenal into Europa, West Ham pooping the bed yet again (Moyes again the master of mediocrity) to let ManU limp into Europa.

Also looking good for Milan to finally recapture the Scudetto after many years away. Serie A has been crazy this year.

Liverpool looked terrible at times. Very lucky just to concede only one goal.

Next up Real Madrid

Mostly down to missing Van Dijk's direction of their high line, I think. Konate played a few onside (as well as whiffing on his header for the first goal), and a couple other chances would have had VAR intervene if Wolves had scored, as they were offside.

I've seen quite a few games like that this year. Liverpool look shaky until midway through the second half, then score a few to put the game away as the other team runs out of gas from running like crazy to break down the high line. This version of Liverpool isn't quite as thrilling as the 'heavy metal football' of Klopp's first few years, but it's a lot more pragmatic and is the key to them being in the hunt for everything right to the end...

But they are unquestionably tired. The minutes have added up, and Klopp has rotated a lot less than he was in March and April.

Next up Real Madrid
This'll be the first time the whole team has had almost a full week off since January. Hopefully it's enough to let them run with what will be a very fresh Madrid, who haven't had a meaningful game since putting City out in the semis.

Finals are usually more dull because everyone gets super conservative, but this Madrid team seems to attract drama, so it could be a fun one...

I’d love to hear what German swear words Klopp has been using at half time in some recent games. Whatever it is it works though.

One more day of DAZN to watch the Champions League final and then cutting the cord. Looks like FUBO TV has a lot more to offer than just footy. Paramount is also part of it? Interesting...

I like that Liverpool are the underdogs going into this one. Takes some pressure off and I think they are hungry to settle some scores!

The match is on CBS at 3pm for those who may want to watch it and don’t have DAZN.

Good from Liverpool first half. I now know about the more complex aspects of the offside rule. Good job it was ruled out but that showed some nerves.

I had the most fun as a fan this season in as long as I can remember. The Champions League win in 2019 was great as a release after missing the league so narrowly and as a redemption of Klopp's philosophy. The league win was impressive, but Covid sucked the fun out of it in a lot of ways. This year, though, felt really special, especially as there were doubts after last year whether this group was done. The quadruple was always the longest of long shots, but boy, I got to watch a lot of great football.

And I love every single player and coach involved with the club, which is all down to Klopp setting a high standard for the type of personalities he brings into the club.

And yes, stupid Belgian keeper had to have the game of a lifetime. Felt a bit like when a regular season favourite runs into a hot goalie on an underdog in the NHL playoffs. Credit to Madrid. They got all the bounces, but always put themselves in a position to take advantage.

Courtois...likely the first keeper Canada will face at Qatar.

Good old Community Shield. If you lose, it's a glorified friendly. If you win, it's a major trophy!

Naturally, I'm in the latter category today. Especially with Nunez making a huge impact, Carvalho looking good, Salah back to his old tricks and looking rested, and Thiago back to making my jaw drop with his hook-footed wizardry.

It was a really fun game, lots of control swings. Listening to Martin Tyler and his idiot partner on commentary almost ruined it, though. I'm really hoping Fubo sticks with the DAZN setup with Peter Drury and Jim Beglin as the 'big game' pairing.

Now the Bundesliga Super Cup. Shed a tear seeing Mane in a different uniform, but Phonzie is back, and he'll need a good run with Bayern to get in form for Canada at the World Cup...

Klopp wanted this one today, the one trophy in England he hadn't won. Rough outing for Haaland, still think City are fav to win this year.
