Going to penalties. Chelski subbed out Mendy for Kepa. Interesting.

Sorry I missed all this! As Klopp said, it was a welcome distraction from all the bad news lately. This one was extra tough for me, as seeing Abramovich's club hoist a trophy would have been awful. Heck of a game, and a reminder of why I love this collection of players so much. Klopp's policy of not recruiting selfish people (note cancellation of Fekir transfer as an example) has paid off long term. It was so great to see him stick to his word about starting Kelleher, and then to see the Irishman play absolutely lights out and ultimately score the winning penalty. Have had a few too many today while yelling at the TV with buddies, so apologies if I'm too effusive. After all, I've always said the League Cup is the biggest trophy of them all!

Winding down by watching Napoli hang on against Lazio. Also, big win for West Ham over Wolves today to keep those Champions League hopes alive...

Oh, and trust FIFA to be as tone deaf as possible and get the Russia question all wrong. With Poland, Sweden and the Czechs all being unequivocal, Infantino may be facing a revolt.

Oh, and stupid Lazio just scored to the it up...

Just watched it on replay. Great watch - very entertaining throughout despite the 0 - 0 score at full-time. I thought Chelsea might edge it in extra time. I never like it when a goalie gets brought on just for pens. Fabinho put Kepa in his place early on, and Salah's laugh seemed like it was all too easy lol. Seeing Thiago Silva do what he does in defence - a master of his art at 37. Would have liked to see Lukaku start instead of Mount. Congrats to all you Liverpool fans out there!

Come on you Boro!!!

Sh*t, forgot all about the FA Cup games today... (Much less illustrious than the League Cup, I've always said. Well, I've said it since this past Sunday...)

Aaaand I just put it on and the picture cuts out. I blame Putin...

It’s happened 3 times now.
Gah…

Holy crap, Boro playing so well.

Note 1: Had no idea Chris WIlder was there. Loved what he did at Sheffield United, great hire.
Note 2: Boro red/white uniforms are fantastic, look great on TV, too.
Note 3: Watching games mostly on DAZN has blessedly freed me from having to listen to Martin Tyler for quite some time. Man, he drives me nuts.

Yeah, Wilder has made a huge impact since coming over after Neil Warnock agreed to “retire”.

Martin Tyler - agreed. Feels like I am playing FIFA.

That’s the 4th interruption now…

Wow. Squeaky bum time for Boro for 12 minutes now...

The result was never in doubt!
Considering that's two big upsets in a row, Boro has to be low on the list for anyone to want to draw in the next round.

The consensus seems to be that Spurs were awful, and the bit I saw a had lot of hanging heads while Boro was obviously charged up. Not a good look for a club chasing their last shot at a title for the year. But I think that takes away from how great Boro played and how hard they ran. This wasn't a park the bus and squeak one out performance, they ran with Spurs and had equal chances. It's something I saw in Wilder's Sheffield, at least in their first year, where they weren't afraid to go toe to toe with anyone.

Magic of the FA Cup indeed...

One of the biggest differences with this team under Wilder is how high up the pitch they defend. As you said, no sitting back and parking the bus and hoping to catch teams on the counter. The few games I have been able to see, have been exciting.

Spurs really started to fade late on in the 2nd half and then even more so into the ET.
Wilder made some great subs that paid off when one of them, young Josh Coburn (who came up through the Scumderland system) blasted home our goal.

Just happy for the fans at The Riverside. What an exciting night!
