So it's that time again....winter pasttimes?

View attachment 58756Pond pics as promised. Except for the area in front of the waterfall there is a one foot ledge one foot down (for potted plants). Inside that it drops another foot in the shallow end and slopes down another foot to 3ft in the larger end. Waterfal in powered by a basic sump/utility pump.

The freighter is awesome. More ponds need a freighter.

Yeah, I think you need at least 4 feet of depth to keep them safe from predators.
I love the idea of a pond, but then the thought of actually doing it changes my mind quickly.
Ours is 6 to 7 feet deep and the heron ate 100 trout in 2 days not a fish left

I can think of cheaper things to step on in the middle of the night..

2 summers ago we had one hang around for a couple of weeks, it would swoop our birdfeeder taking chipmunks and finches while they were feeding.

Finally completed a piece for a burlesque performer friend in Chicago. Embossed "white" (more like silver) leather for the piece. Silver anodized aluminum scales for the shoulder pieces. Stainless steel rings used in the connecting chains and to hold together strings of hanging crystal doughnuts off the shoulders.

Wow that's beautiful work!

I actually saw similar hats to what you make at the show last weekend, didn't pull the trigger as I wasn't sure if it was leather or pleather. But they looked nice.

I regret not buying a knife or two from one of the vendors.

as for me...loving the racing wheel + seat combo. Killing it at Gran Turismo 7.

Thanks. She showed me a TikTok video by a woman who does bent wire pieces with thousands of dollars worth of Swarovski Crystals and wondered if there was any way that I could do something similar. Twenty bucks worth of crystals from AliExpress, some leather, and some scales that I already had later, and....

Second project finally completed. The hat is made using veg tanned leather, that I dyed using the old "vinegaroon" process. The hatband is the same leather, wrapped in the cloth that I used on the bottom of the hat's brim. Oh, and I made the mannequin head too ;)

I got skiing 51 times and boarding three times this winter (about 300 km total). Also made it across the 80' pond without swimming. Kids were about 40 times on skis and wife was about 30. Not too bad.

I’m taking the kids next year. Time to start them off and it’s been about 8 years since I’ve been on my board.

Couldn’t get on after my surgery and then life got in the way (excuses).

Bring them by. We probably have ski gear that fits them all.

Snowboarding after a break hurts muscles a lot. I'll try to get more days in next year to get back up to speed. After 10 runs I was really feeling it and starting to make mistakes and would quit before I got slammed.
