or $1200 for same trailer ads side by side on Facebook.
Awsome, I'll DM you if neededA GTAM member actually reached out to me when they saw this thread and I picked it up.
Depending where you are located you’re welcome to come take a look at it before I break it down into pieces as I won’t need it for the next week or two. Dundas and Credit Woodlands area.
EDIT: when I checked UHAUL site they were only a week or two wait, if that.
This will be what I upgrade my trailer to when the time comes. Much more usable overall, but can’t beat the storage of the one I have.Log into Facebook

Saw that one, after gas to get there in the F-150, I like the $750 folding ones listed above, messaged them, no reply yet. That would be under $1k with a trailer and the hitch installed, I can live with that!![]()

Where did you manage to get the trailer from? I think I'll try and get one, got a quote to install a stealth hitch on the GTI, with a folding trailer, it may open up more possibilities down the road

There are Curtis hitches on amazon for the GTI, $223 free shipping, though I called Safe pull trailer hitches in North york, and they can supply, install, give the 1" tp 2in ball adapter, do the wiring for a good rate. I don't want to take apart the car to do the wiring part personally
Amazon price is too high. I picked up my Curt from Uhaul for 145.95 last fall (tax and shipping included). I never put wiring harnesses in VW's. I made a manually controlled box that is powered from the lighter that plugs into the trailer lights. There are Curtis hitches on amazon for the GTI, $223 free shipping, though I called Safe pull trailer hitches in North york, and they can supply, install, give the 1" tp 2in ball adapter, do the wiring for a good rate. The ecohitch receiver appears to sit entirely above the curt receiver. A little more ground clearance is appreciated. The last car with a hitch hit when backing out of the inlaws driveway.I saw a Golf with the U-Haul hitch, was nowhere near concealed, the bar stick out below, so I ruled that one out
Is this the set that was mentioned in this thread earlier for being utter garbage?
Thing is, that hitch alone is close $700... I don't plan to lower the GTI, so hopefully the Curt is okayThe ecohitch receiver appears to sit entirely above the curt receiver. A little more ground clearance is appreciated. The last car with a hitch hit when backing out of the inlaws driveway.
Instead of getting buddies to help why not power it up. I start the bike and walk it up under it's own power. It looks treacherous when you are riding that bike up that high in that narrow railing. And I won't always have 2 buddies to help me roll the bike on top of it. It's a 3-man trailer.
I had Uhaul install the hitch on my Roadtrek. They're prices are very good. I think they subsidize the hitch cost so you can rent a trailer.Amazon price is too high. No, these are the ones I ended up with after the others failed. You have to be creative how you mount them. I was in a rush and just wrapped tape around them and each axle. In fairness, Princess may very well have a better built set than the first one I tried that fits in the OEM location, but I just didn't feel like going through it again.
Only reason I’m not installing it myself on the Volt is because I need to rip off the bumper. I don’t trust myself with this process but maybe @PrivatePilot can comment how hard it was for him on his Gen1 Volt.
Ive seen concerns of Volts towing and welds coming apart but I highly doubt it would happen with less than 700lbs of weight to tow.
i have used these on 3 trailers now. No problems. My current 5x10 two years outside. Finally the trailer side connector pin broke. Spliced in a better connector everything fine now.
The other ones will not be long enough. They are meant for a carrier not trailer. I have a set I never used if you want to try them. Just out in Oakville.
