You might be able to, I mean I don't see why not. You could easily smuggle onboard a GoPro or equivalent, no prob. You can do anything, really, just gotta be creative enough.

I very much doubt that you will be allowed to have a camera attached to you. That's a very big hazzard. The footage that is most often used is from an experienced camer person. Chris, anything to add?

This is from their website:
Q: May I bring my own camera on the skydive?
A: Due to the heights, excitement and speed of your skydive we do not allow personal cameras along on the jump. We'd rather you focus on enjoying yourself that thinking about taking pictures. If you would like photos and video, consider having your jump videotaped by our professional team of photographers.

The video you get for $100 is worth the money. These guys have all the editing equipment and use it often. They know which equipment/software works best in putting together a video that covers you at all stages of your jump. There will be video of you practicing before and getting geared up to go, you in the plane, your climb-out, your exit with the plane in the background and you falling away from it, your freefall, your opening, you coming in for your landing, and the first words out of your mouth after. Then they put it all to music and edit it in such a way that it's exciting to watch.

They don't want hand held devices....wouldn't want something to fall and hit someone on the ground. Their cameras are securely mounted with no snag points for lines to get caught on. If you try to sneak in your own camera, it probably won't get a good video, you will only see sky the whole time, and it would really suck if it caused a problem at 4,000' during deployment.

Skydive Burnaby

thats where I recommend.............jumped from many places....liked them them the most

AND the VIEW......you can see lake Erie....Ontario....the curve of the earth....and of course...niagara falls wayyyyy over there

pick the hottest days to jump......its cold up there.....and you warm up as you come down......"f"ing AWSOME

Skydiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read a post in early January about people having skydiving on their bucket list for 2011. Well, it's on mine too. I am having problems getting people to come with me (I dont mind going myself) but the experience with others is better. I'm heading off to school in September and have 2 months to cross somethings off my list I wanted to do this summer. My birthday is on Saturday July 23rd, and what better way to have fun then to skydive with other motorcycle riders. *Doesn't have to be on this weekend as people might have plans etc but by the end of July I would like to go.

There have been some posts of possible camping / hotel bookings for a weekend. I think it would be great and add more to the experience. It might be tough for everyone but lets hear some input from you guys.

This will be my first time skydiving so pricing is based on tandem skydives. Experienced divers more then welcome to join in to make the experience for us all enjoyable.

Pricing -
$300 roughly everywhere (intro training, jump, gear etc)
*$100 - 130 (if you want video / pictures of the experience added)
*Depending on the number of people = discount:p / student discount too:p w/ ID

Requirements
- Proof of being 18+
- Running shoes with good support
- Suitable clothing (colder at higher altitude)
- Max weight 250lbs (some flexibility up to 260lbs)*Depends on the place as well.
- A little crazy (if you ask some people)

Places of interest are:
Parachute School of Toronto (Baldwin, On - 1h 45 min from T.O) - My pick
Niagara Sky Diving (Dunnville, On - 2 hrs from T.O)
SWOOP (Waterdown, Hamilton, On - 1hr from T.O)

***Let make it happen*** - Anyone good for July 23rd, we have about 2 weeks to plan and book.

Re: Skydiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I jumped many years ago. Was a w/e course at Geo Brown or Ryerson or somewhere..forget.
We jumped at the retired Air Force base airport in Picton near the lake. Was almost a wash as the wind picked up to the point where it was close to being too strong for us to jump. (they didn't want us coming down in the lake) At that time they didn't do tandem. We were on our own, but outfitted with oneway walkie talkie and the guy on the ground gave you steering instruction if you appeared to not be on top of things.

When you are getting close to the grd, you want to time it just right so that you steer and comeabout into the wind. The idea being that you don't want to be falling at 16 to 20 kph AND be going with a 10 to 15 kph wind at the same time. That = painful landing and no PLF position on earth can help you scrub that off into nothing. It's a limper if you're lucky, lol. And you also can't steer too erratically or you will start to pendulate. Very bad..

The day we jumped there were a lot of glitches. The second guy out of the plane had his auto firing pin malfunction. (a .22 caliber shot measures velocity and will fire the reserve chute pin around the 1000' point if the main chute fouled and the jumper was unconscious or otherwise frozen in fear. You REALLY don't want to be in that position because usually the reserve will wrap with the main which is streamering, and it's usually a very swift ride to the grd. You wanna land in a swamp or water if that happens). Anyway, that poor guy came down with two chutes which means you can't steer and you fall faster with two cuz they rest up against each other. That poor bugger slammed into the runway...BAM. We couldn't believe our eyes when he got up and waved indicating he was ok! If you looked around at each other, I'm sure all our lower jaws were stuck open in disbelieve..and relief of course.

You will be surprised how heavy the chute weighs, and they strap you in really tight, the harness comes down around your crotch and squeezes the **** out of your balls, uncomfortably so..it was great getting that sucker off later. Tandem may not be the same that way..likely isn't.

One of the weirdest parts of the jump was hanging out on the wing, waiting for the instructor to tell you when to jump, and you are out there in the wind, at about 90 mph even tho the pilot idled back the engine, and you hear the roar and the wind, then in half a second after you jump, the roar of the wind and the plane is just gone. In an instant. And there you are, trying to maintain a controlled belly down flat out position so the chute can pull cleanly off your back, you count 1 - 2 -3 - 4 - 5 and then you feel that major tug..hopefully looking up at that big, more beautiful than life, chute...thinking YES, did the first thing right..lol..Whatever you do, once the horizon breaks and you are getting close to the grd, don't look down at that point or the grd will come up and smack you silly. At least that's what they told us and I after seeing that break, I believe it. Again, tandem might be more forgiving that way.

There were a couple other quirky things that happened that day too, but I don't want to spook you. Be safe, follow the rules and have fun. The trip doesn't last very long. Tandem is safer so you should be good to go..

I'm down for this! But depending on my work schedule. :( And I think $300 is a little steep for a tandem jump..or am I just being cheap? LOL

How many tandem jumps do you have to do for a single jump?

If we can decide a date for most by this week then its a good one month notice that you wont be there.

$300 everywhere, maybe $20 less if there is a good group of people, maybe more - I'll ask for $30:D. Dont be so cheap, lol, I wouldn't want to cheap out on skydiving.

There's a course that you can do or something ($1500 - 2000) by the end where you practice, practice, practice. Jumps get higher each time and you have to be able to exit, hold the correct body position, know what your doing basically in all situations that can happen and there are many steps. Most likely going to take a few weeks to a month.

Re: Skydiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There isn't a parachute big enough to slow my freefall descent out of an airplane, never mind a crowbar big enough to lever me out the door. You kids have fun, I'll be at the bar at the end of the airstrip.

Re: Skydiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was an avid skydiver in the late 90's in Tecumseh Michigan .l would not bother with tandem as thats not skydiving The IAD(static line ) course is the way to go and we paid $150 for the course. You would get there at 0500 and take you first jump at 1700.The school is run by retired 82cd air born Master Sargent Harry Lang and very military.
A bad trip in 97 broke my neck and a few other things.
I had a partial malfunction (end cell failure)at 5500 feet and thought I could ride it down without cutting away and deploying the reserve.I was wrong my vertical speed was slow enough not to trip the barometric pressure sensor (reserve)so i though I was ok but sadly my horizontal speed was excessive since i was in a tight right hand turn and was trying to keep it straight.I thought I could run it out until the very last second but when I put my first foot down I ended up face planting at 25-30mph.Broke my nose, crushed right sinus cavity and cracked c5,c6 in my neck.
I jumped up in sear embarrassment gazed at the trench my body left in the pea pebble bulls eye dropped my rig and nonchalantly made my way to the car and then the ER.
The whole thing was entirely my own fault.I knew that approximately 60% of deployments start out as a tangled mess in free fall if you aren't arched properly at the moment the chute is deployed. I was mad that I had to wait for my exit as another jumper In another plane above us when out of turn and we were losing (flying out of )the drop zone so I rushed and pulled the chute early because I needed to clear some trees
I never flew again but someday I will.Did you know you are more likely to die in a car accident going to the airport than skydiving and at any given time there are only 30000 active skydivers in the united states

a broken neck and a faceplant into a runway.. i thought paracuting was safe.

i did the niagara skydiving a couple years back. enjoyed it a lot and worth doing.

unfortunately life, disability insurance is void during skydiving which many people won't risk .....unlike cars or motorcycles.

Yep, not only does he ride naked, but he also skydives naked.

I am not proud I know that, lol
