Sikhs must wear helmets

And what does that have to do with Sikhs wearing helmets?

The rednecks who think that Sikhs are the same as these Hamas/ISIS loving, dog hating, suicide bombing xenophobes. Duh.

Are you reading the same thread as the rest of us?

Why not let them try it for two years?

It works in California so why not Ontario.

I think that a lot of people have a bias against Sikhs because they think that they are coming here and trying to change our laws like some others religious orgs. and other than wearing their turbans that is completely false.

It has been clearly established, repeatedly, that there is nothing in their religion that forbids a Sikh from wearing a helmet over a thinner turban.

So.. why don't the Sikhs who wish to ride simply do that?

If it's that easy for them then they should.
I'm going to ask one that I work with.
I know at of them don't even wear turbans, they have bracelets instead.

I have a number of Sikh friends so I am biased and I like the idea of not being forced to wear a helmet myself. I can't defend their kirpan but it doesn't bother me. Is it fair that they can bring it to school while my kid can't bring a knife, probably not but I do see a difference. I think that Sikhs have been good for Canada and if they want to wear turban's while riding a motorcycle like they can in BC and Manitoba I think that they should be allowed to.

Who really cares about the Kirpans? Why?
I see them all the time... and have never thought twice about it.

Has there ever been an incident involving one?
I don't know but I can't recall ever hearing about one.

I simply don't want to wear a helmet. Should I be exempt from helmet laws?

When I just want to run to the store or go to a friends house a few blocks away I really don't want to wear a helmet. On the 401 I want a helmet. I was hoping this exemption if granted for the Sikh's would lead to a possible exemption for all.
I would like to see the helmet laws changed.

You didn't answer my question.

And then why should any one group be granted an exemption from said law simply because they don't like it?

One reason would be the precedent that was set by two other provinces that took up this issue. If no one ever voiced an opinion contrary to a law or custom imagine the world we would live in.

That's not a valid reason. I've already stated why.

Any other reasons you can think of?
