Sikhs must wear helmets

I'd say draw the line at the law here applies to everyone. Your religion doesn't make you exempt and if that's the expectation then don't come here. I'm not against anyone for believing in whatever they want but this whole bend over and cater to everyone else first then worry about canada crap has to stop. Would you go to another country and expect them to change laws or their ways for you? If the answer is anything other than no I think we all see what is laughable. Carry on

Where do you draw your line? Your extreme stance should mean we all should have adapted to First Nations culture a long time ago. People lobby to support any idea they believe in, wherever they choose to be. Doesn't mean it's going to happen, doesn't mean it won't.

Your simplistic outlook is fortunately not the way things work in Canada. This is a fairly laughable and thinly veiled case of xenophobia I've seen.

Holy sh*t!! You opened my eyes! I guess I should hate myself for being a foreigner to this country too, right?

Very, very far from xenophobia, don't be an idiot.

I adapted, pal, because I chose to live here and I respect what was already established here; laws that actually work for the benefit of its citizens; again, you have no f**king idea how good you have it here in Canada.

This is Canada...we have Canadian laws for everyone in this country...if you don't like it then there is only one solution...get the **** out!

Let's read this sentence a few times.

This about sums it up.

People who do this are douche bags. It's like, you invite a close buddy to a BBQ and he/she brings their vegetarian wife/husband. Then they complain about being hungry because they expected you to know about them because they're so self righteous. Canada is that nice ******* person just trying to get all our buddies over for a great barbecue with some decent sirloin and a couple hamburgers, and you've always got that one loser who's gotta come by and **** everything up by coming to a BARBEQUE when you can't put leaves on a barbeque. And to that I say: you should have brought your own salad.

Similarly, to the Sikhs I say either:
A) Give up motorcycling
B) Give up your religion
C) bend the rules of your religion

A) is fairly easy. Note how some religious people give up drinking or smoking. Guess what, they deal with it without whining to alcohol or tobacco companies because their favourite beer doesn't come in an alcohol free version.

B) Probably easier said than done for most people. Not going to push this one any further because it will seem like I'm attacking religion.

C) This is the most logical solution. It's your religion, you deal with the baggage. Go to your leaders and request they allow for you to do whatever you need to do so you can ride. My "religion" or spirituality I guess I would call my beliefs (though I see me becoming more and more secularized) is one which hated gays not too long ago (and some people still do) , guess what I did, I bent the rules and became accepting of gays because I'm not a dick of a human being. I felt like my integrity as a human is much more meaningful than what a couple millennium old book had to say about it. Crazy ******* idea, I know!!!

But don't you dare try to change a law that isn't even discriminatory and claim human rights violations when you don't get your way

alls im gonna say is this,

if there turbins have a "dot" on them, i got no probs with that! until then, if its good enough for everyone else in this province/country, it then should not be an issue for a sikh or anyone else. period!!

I don't like approach, because some of their foreheads have dot on them which means they won't have to wear a helmet.

Jesus Christ, man!! Ummm, sorry, I should say "Son of the Christian god, man!!!"

Your words are an exquisite extract from the core of all that stands for taking sh*t from no one. I almost wanna cry...

I once had a friend go to Egypt to teach. She was wearing a hijab & a sweater in the middle of the desert. I asked her if she converted to muslim, she told me no. She was forced to wear that.

No, you didn't, and neither did the people that set Canada up like this. That's not to say I don't love it. I love this country and everything it stands for, and that does not include not listening to people in the future because of rules made in the past. Like I said, why didn't you adapt to Native customs? Do you even understand what a democracy is?

As Hutchison said:
“Listen, there’s a compelling argument to be made that nobody should be allowed to ride motorcycles at all,” says Hutchison. “Or nobody should smoke cigarettes. Or any number of things that are dangerous activities that are engaged in by a relatively small group of people. You could make that argument, but that’s not really the way we’ve decided to organize ourselves as a society.”

Keep pulling the curtain over your eyes bub.

We didn't adapt to native customs because the settlers did not immigrate, they conquered the land for the monarchy "back home". Apples and oranges.

I'm by no means being literal, just showing how stupid an extreme belief is by being too easy to counter.

Laws, immigration, lobbying, it's all part of the deal. If it happens, so be it. Our system isn't meant to be closed to change.

It's hard to disagree with this.

Yup, I did. And a damn good life I built up here, law abiding and sh*t.

Isn't democracy where the majority decides that the Sikhs, and you, must wear a helmet while riding?

Oh snap!!

LOL

Sad to hear of this ruling. I love most Sikhs. They are not like what you think they are.
They don't teach their children to hate.
They don't hate dogs.
They don't blow themselves up to hook up with virgins.
They don't plan to kill everyone other than their kind.
Just sayin'.
.

I think the remove the helmet laws, and your insurance/ohip is void if not wearing a helmet.

as far as turbans go... I dont care... wear what you want. but no coverage for you !:p

Where does that stop?

No cancer, cardio, lung treatments for smokers.

No II diabetic treatment if you're overweight

Skateboarders set their own bone breaks?

Loud music = hearing issues

Tanning = skin cancer

It really annoys me when people with non-self inflicted injuries are made to wait while drunk Jim Bob gets his bar room cuts stitched. That said if we over play this angle we'll have more scrutineers than doctors.

This is all BS, they don't want to wear helmets, they are allowed to bring their kirpan in courts. I can't even carry my leatherman in court.

Let people live their lives. If Sikh's want to ride without helmets I say let them

Let's see what happens during a 2 year trial basis.

It seems to work well in California.

We have MUCH bigger problems.

Please remember that Sikh's are not terrorists.

I think that it should be mandatory that terrorists not be permitted to wear helmets or seat belts.

I worship the AK gods. When can I bring my AEK 971 to court?
