Shopping list for 2014 track season

Stock on a non race oriented SV is still different from and R6. But everyone just get on with it. Lets not kid anyone, we are all wasting money on this hobby as 99% are not making a living doing it.

I won a FREE rear tire this year ! So ha!
Mind you it cost me 5000 bucks hahahha

Okay, so on my 2007 ZX-6R, stock was 0.87, and I'm running 0.95, and pushing them to within 2cm of bottoming. I agree with you, the SV was total ****, but if I were 160 on my Ninja I'd still need 0.94 according to Racetech (they say I need 0.97 at 180lbs).

I wonder if we could all agree that suspension is the single most important part of the bike to have working properly when trying to maximize your riding skills. I doubt we could, at this rate...

Skinny people only need HP.

I thought it was pre-race shot of whiskey and a throttle blipper for downshifts that really mattered.

I'm 160 lbs, I totally should switch back to stock suspension, I need a few more tenths

A few more tenths? Get some Pazzo shortys in blue. And a loud exhaust.

I didn't change my suspension and I never went down all year. Stock suspensions aren't useless. Unless you are fat. Full suspension is nice to have but you wont die on the first corner without it.

My first year of tracking I ran stock on my R6 at 190 lbs. Year 2 I changed the shock. Year 3 I did the forks. I found as my speed went up, my positioning, throttle control, etc changed and improved, that the limits of the suspension became self evident. Each year my times improved as my skills increased and I was able to make better use of the changes that I made. For me the priority of the shock was first since I needed help when under acceleration so that I didn't kill myself. As I learned more and worked on braking the forks became more important.

I think the answer is dependent on the bike as Tim says and on the progression of the rider's skill. If I had upgraded suspension from day 1 I likely would have progressed faster however budgets with a hobby that you are experimenting with to see if you will stick with it, a progressive investment in upgrades makes sense for some of us.

Have shortly levers given to me by one of my sponsors (MMR). Currently looking for a sponsorship from Yamaha for stock suspension.

Good luck! Should be great. Yamaha no longer owns Ohlins so their stock stuff should be even farther from aftermarket. ;)
