Scotch anyone?

Try Monkey Shoulder for a great everyday (cheap) scotch. Peat fanatics look elsewhere.

Haha no dude, many pages ago i posted about McClelland which is pretty cheap and is my everyday (not literally) scotch.
If you can find something you like and is more affordable, do it. You can drink more scotch that way lol

My "everyday" would be Johnnie Gold. I find it to be the Bimmer 3 series of the Scotch world. Always good when they are sale in duty free (1L/$50)

Im not a hige fan of JW but the gold is pretty nice. But where do you ever find it for $50?!!! Usually stuff at LCBO goes on sale for a dollar or two less than the usual price and the usual price for Johnnie Gold is $80

I have yet to try JW Platinum and the reformulated Gold. Never had the previous Gold either. I liked the Green.

+1 with islay mist for the blended win when your looking at a good value option

Lagavulin 16 is my go-to when I'm in the mood for a smoky scotch as is my dad so we'l definitely try that Distiller's Edition out. Thanks for the heads up on that one.

The Gold for that price is just in duty frees. JW discontinued Gold to bring out the platinum, but there was such a consumer push back they're re branding it again as gold. Keep an eye out when you're traveling as it's probably the best value you'll get for Scotch.

Nothing wrong with cheap blends. The regular JB is perfectly drinkable.

I have a special decanter just for J&B.

Worth repeating.

Oh yeah that makes sense. but at LCBO its not cheap lol

Anyone tried the Crown Royal Northern Harvest? Named "World Whisky of the Year" by the guy that puts out the Whisky Bible

Probably going to pick up a few bottles to test

Couldn't find it at the Queen's Quay LCBO. Went with another non-scotch, Knob Creek Single Barrel. No regrets.

Nothing made by CR should be awarded. I tried their Maple Whiskey last month as a friend had a bottle and it's an abomination. Not even drinkable.

Bought eight bottles on the way home, if by chance it is any good, Christmas buying is done for a bunch of people

I contend that Crown Royal Apple is even worse than the Maple one. I got a mini-bottle of the Apple attached to a 750ml of Bulleit and I insta-spat out the one mini-sip I took. What the hell were they thinking.

damn! This is a big deal:

Gimli's Crown Royal produces World Whisky of the Year!

Went into the LC last night to pick up some of this, and, they told me they can't keep in on the shelf (inventory showed qty 2 but the stock lady was all stressed out because people keep asking for it... another story...) I need to drive some of this Rye into me to solidify my agreement and/or disagreement with the tabloids.

Any one have any comments on it?

Went to 5 LCBOs last weekend to try and score it, targeting those that showed some inventory on lcbo.com - unfortunately, the inventory count is a day late. Everyone was sold out.

Jim Murray you prick.
