I don't think this is why he resigned. Sheer lost the confidence of his party, when this happens its customary to allow the party to decide on who is best able to lead.
The PC party needs to up the charisma of its leadership, find someone who can appeal to more than western conservatives.

As far as trying to appeal to more than just western conservatives..canada is a BIG country...my understanding is the PC is essentially the same thing as the reform party of ages past, a regional party. Hence andrews' obsession with alberta and oil.
As far as charisma is concerned....Doug would be less charismatic than my old honda cbr500.
As I mentioned earlier, Peter mackay was being put forward by many party conservatives, and he has the charisma to pull it off, and resume and private sector and life experience to earn my respect.

I didn't hear about the Scheer scandal. I just figured he resigned following the conservative tradition of being a leader that the population either doesn't care about (or hates) so they can't win. For some reason, the party can't see that prior to an election. After an election they swap in a new idiot that doesn't have a chance of winning.

They cant help, finding different versions of the same guy(Harper) like a crazy ex gf who cant move on.
Lisa Raitt two months ago was a choice, the shine came off her pedestal when she got killed in her riding by a paddler with ZERO experience in politics. She pulled the "i've been at this for years, tons of experinece, cabinet posts, deputy leader" and missed the part about go and be visible in your riding, bang on some doors, visit a boy scout meeting. Vankoverdan did it right and slayed the giant.

She was the interim Opposition Leader and if the opposing party (Libs) are thinking of nominating her as Ambassador to the US (as rumor has it), then you would think that the political talent is there.
But then, I am not a politician and neither do I have a membership of any party.

Appears that BJ is on course to securing a majority.
Brexit is on track to becoming a reality
What does that mean for us? Separate trade agreements with the UK & EU? Does that put another kink in NATO?

Does it mean that life goes on for the rest of the world (yawn)?
