Road Rage on the 401, May 21, 2014

wtf did the fries hit you?

Nah just landed on the road in front of me. Maybe it was just coincidence that I was behind him and he just didn't want that handful of fries?

hi there, sorry to hear about this. I'm sure its not going to be cheap to fix that mirror.. $600-800 ? Yes, unfortunately the ****** bags that drive cars, ride bicycles, walk the street also ride motorcycles.. Im sure his plate was hard to reada and you wouldnt have had a chance to see it. Did you report it or call it in to the police? Who knows *maybe* they pulled someone over later that may have fit the description of the bike/rider.
Anyway, like a lot of things, not all of us are like that.

On another note, I'm surprised this guy was able to do that to your mirror an not loose control of the bike?!!! wow.

Holy ****, $600-$800? What car do you drive????

OEM Honda Accord replacement heated mirror was $250.

Oh good, man that would have ****** me off. Especially if they had ketchup on them. Snowberry had a truck driver throw half a sandwich out the window once. Pretty sure it was not intentional either. I'm always paranoid somone is going to toss a cigarette but out the window. I try to get next to and past people smoking in their cars. lol

Did you rub your belly? Maybe he thought you were hungry...

I've been behind a car that threw half a family sized bag of chips out the window. People are ********.

At least not a banana. That would be confirmed intentional.

I would not have been in the left or passing lane, had I not been passing a vehicle. It is for passing..... then this would not have happened. From a biker perspective, should I have touched my brakes rather then coasting? My thoughts are one would be more likely to lose control if you are confronted by brake lights at that close a range causing you to brake hard, even if I was just doing it to warn them to back off.
He was really tight to my car when he smacked it, so it wasn't a long reach. Like I said, he is working his way into a pine box.
As for my mirror..... my car is on the way to the scrap yard (Jetta TDI with 500,000+ km's) so I just duct-taped the hole left. If it had been my newer car I really would have been ******.

Wow. The guy was passing (be it slowly), but really? He deserves to get his mirror knocked off because he wasn't doing it quick enough?

I may get annoyed at OP, but just because he is not breaking the law as much as I'd like him to be is no reason for this.

Plus I'm on a SS - I'm sure there is another way around if I need to be in that much of a hurry.

Instead of letting on the gas or touching your brakes, you can always accelerate....?

Regardless it was stupid on the bikers behalf to smash your mirror, all it takes is for a driver to retaliate at those speeds and turn into the biker to end it all over going slow in the passing lane...

He was rushing to timmies meet, those don't happen often.

Hey Bikers,
Off the top, I do not own a bike, but at times think it would be a great way of cruising. Most bikers, as with car drivers, most are law abiding good drivers, but there are those who wreck it for the rest of you.
On May 21, about 8:45 PM, east bound 401 around Whitby, I was passing a truck doing about 120 kmhr. A sport biker comes screaming up behind me and sits about 5 feet off my bumper. I did what I would do to anyone tailgating me, I took the car off cruise (DID NOT touch the brakes) and slowly passed the truck. The biker didn't even give me a chance to pull to the right in front of the truck before he came flying by, reached out and smashed my passenger side mirror. By smashed, I mean hanging by its wires, not useable, not repairable. He, of course was then gone like a shot.
So, the reason for my rant.... to get it off my chest and if any of the people on this forum hear of this biker bragging how he "gave it" to a lame car driver, let him know he will end up in a box much sooner then me with the anger/speed issues he has.

maybe when you changed lanes to overtake the truck, you didn't check your blind spot, and you cut off the rider.

Maybe that's why he was so close to your bumper?

And when you slowed down, maybe that just made things worse?

Yeah no reason to punch some ones mirror, its not a common practice among most riders! But why did you slow down your current speed? What were you planning on doing, cause frustration to the person behind you. To me it does sound like you caused some frustration and got the over reaction of the person behind you.

+1

Clearly you have never driven in Europe. If you are in the inside lane slowly passing someone with your cruise on, and you see someone come up behind. Common road etiquette would be to step on the gas (you don't even need to disengage the cruise) and pull to the right as soon as you can. Instead you thought that your 20 over was ok, but his 25, 30, 35, whatever over was not, and you became self-righteous and decided to teach him a lesson. Well, I guess you learned the lesson! I agree that he over reacted by smashing your mirror. I would have just pulled in front of you and rolled off the throttle for a second or 2, then be on my way. You know, do unto others as they just did unto you, but not escalate the situation. Since you don't ride, you may not be aware that your actions have serious life threatening consequences to riders. He was just trying to encourage you to actually pass the truck, not just sit beside it. But instead, you did the opposite. So I guess there were 2 a...oles in that situation.

Btw, I can't believe that you actually joined a motorcycle forum just to rant about this, especially when you took the first aggressive move. I'll get my popcorn out!

People want to go from point A to B without douchbagery. Next time you have someone behind you in the passing lane, don't slow down. Put your signal on showing that you know you've got someone on your butt and you will moving over in a few seconds. So sick of selfish people on the road.

Never really understood why many SS riders tailgate cars as a way to show their rage. Brake check = GG when that rage flows through your veins and all you can think about is "Take that! Imma tailgate you!"

tailgating is illegal. Honestly, I'd have tapped the brakes so he would take the hint. The fact that he busted your mirror is pretty messed up. Do you know what he was riding? What did he break it with?

So many signs of trolling, but its fun watching it play out especially as the rain is about to hit :p
