Sharknado is queued up. Epic? :)

You know the really bad movies that are so much fun because you can tell they don't take themselves seriously? That isn't one of them.

*EDIT* Since I'm taking a shot like that, I should follow it up with an example of people who do the sort of movie that I mentioned. There's no end of people who are doing them, online, on a Kickstarter type start-up. Some are doing it because they wouldn't know how NOT to do it. The budgets are tiny and the production values suck, but they don't take themselves seriously. Many of them got started as Dungeons and Dragons players and because that's what they know, it's the sort of thing that they joke about. Some of them have gotten to the level of producing stuff SyFy would put on-air. They never will, though, because they don't want to be under studio production control.

http://www.zombieorpheus.com/ - Zombie Orpheus Entertainment is a production house that was started by a bunch of college friends who made a movie called "Demon Hunters", back when the were in school, and called themselves...

http://deadgentlemen.com/ - Dead Gentlemen Productions. They're responsible for what is probably THE role playing game based movie series, online, "The Gamers."

And then you have...

http://www.voyagetrekkers.com/ - Voyage Trekkers, who base their comedy on all the classic science fiction shows from the past, with special honours to the original Star Trek.

http://www.spacejanitors.com/ - Space Janitors is made in Toronto, and leans more towards the Star Wars school of SF comedy.

http://standardaction.zombieorpheus.com/ - Special mention for Standard Action; a made in Vancouver Dungeons and Dragons comedy web series. I met Joanna a couple of months back.

*EDITED EDIT*

I forgot to mention "Project London" which was made completely by volunteers, using free 3D animation software, with the movie's release being funded by a Kickstarter campaign.

I know this was mentioned too long ago to care but, just watched Total Recall, the reboot. OMG!!!! Kate is going to need a restraining order from me. Excuse my opinion of the movie since the blood flow to my brain wasn't very good at the time. The woman is just hot.

That all aside, I did like the movie. And I really never understood the star power of Colin but, he did a fine stand in for Tom Cruise here. lol. Kidding. It was a good flick. Like it better than Arnold's verson.

For me, Star Trek 2 was a groan fest. If you're an old school Trek fan, I recommend skipping it. If all you want is splosions and lens flares, go for it.

Rob, I enjoyed the first JJ movie. I wasn't looking for any pardox and I was prepared to hate having other actors give their spin on Scotty and Bones. But, they pulled it off for me.

I was wondering how they would continue the series........But, I there is something that hasn't compelled me to jump at it.

Ironman 3, I really want to see. Just hasn't worked out. lol.

Just like the Hobbit. I went to every one of "Lord of the Ring" movies. Had to have the DVDs. Loved how they put the books to film.

The Hobbit? Just isn't calling my name.

Oh well, I'm sure it will come on tv one day and I'll just have it on while I'm surfing the web on the laptop and posting to GTAM........

BTW, hotter than heck out there today. Had to find some nice empty roads to keep cool on the bike. The Buell doesn't like to putt around.....

The first Star Trek reboot movie was fine. I quite enjoyed that. The second one just annoyed me.

I feel the same way as you about The Hobbit.

Pacific Rim was a good cheesy movie. Don't expect anything great, but was refreshing to see a multicultural cast. Plot is not an original one (reminds me a great deal of NGE) but not bad.

Saw World War Z, underwhelmed... it was like Walking Dead in a nutshell. Except... more like Running Dead.

Anyone see RIPD or Lone Ranger yet?

The Lincoln Lawyer. Solid. Matthew McConaughey can actually act occasionally, and he certainly delivers in this one. The rest of the cast is pretty deep in the talent pool as well.

The Artist. Good. Think black and white silent film, with a twist.

Rango. Johnny Depp is awesome as Rango. Probably one of my favourite animated movies ever.

How to train your dragon. Standard animated fare. Main character gets put down and passed by and becomes the hero. Predictable. Still worth a watch.

A Place Beyond the Pines. Pretty awful. You'd think from the trailer it is about a dude robbing banks on a dirtbike. WRONG. That's like 1/6th of the movie and all of the trailer. Cant remember how many times the bike switched from 2 stroke to 4 stroke and back again. The story gets told and thats about it, no real morale or story or point. So many stupid things that don't really get explained. Hated most of the characters.

Killing Them Softly. Waste of time. The movie goes nowhere, and takes its sweet time getting there. The movie is slow as molasses, and drags on forrrever. This can sometimes be a good thing. In this film, it isn't. 99% of it is talking, 1% action. The whole movie has some sort of underlying message about US politics but I couldn't figure it out/didn't make sense.

End of Watch. Solid cop movie. The handicam perspective can be love/hate. I didn't mind it but it is weird because only some of the movie is shot in this style, and the rest isn't. Good action, good dialogue.

Cloud Atlas. Meh. Took a while to commit to watching it. I didn't see the epicness of it but perhaps I was not in the right mindset/mood. It was OK, but I wouldn't watch it again.

Anyone watch the Purge yet?

Great movie (IMO) and breaks away from your standard movies lately.

Purge was ok. Though, I was expecting more from it.
The last few minutes before the credits are worth more than the entire movie alone :D

Lone Ranger, or as I like to call it, Pirates of the Wild Wild West.

It's got some good scenes, and tries to shine here and there, but it isn't the franchise building movie they wee trying to make it out to be. Depp's accent slips in and out as Tonto, and the Armie Hammer guy looks like he's staring into the sun more than acting. Worth it to rent, wouldn't pay to see it in a theatre again.

The Conjuring was good. More traditional scare attempts rather than CGI generated ones. :>

Just saw Devil's Double.

Interesting movie based on true story of Udhey Hussein's (Saddham Hussein's son) body double. It was f'd up seeing the stuff he did and if even partly true the world is a better place without him.

It's a good movie. Didn't get much of a push from the studio.

The Lincoln Lawyer. Solid. Matthew McConaughey can actually act occasionally, and he certainly delivers in this one. The rest of the cast is pretty deep in the talent pool as well.

Both good, entertaining movies. Shaman would like End of Watch. LOL. Rampart is another good cop movie. Woody Harrelson is really good in it. His character is a complete mess. Wife+kids w. ex wife+kids living next door, doing them both. Total downward spiral. Another one for Shaman.

Watched Oblivion last night -- pretty standard sci-fi but was a decent/good movie imo.
