Silver Lining Playbook - GOOD - A chick flick a guy can watch. Very good performances by everyone.

Wreck-it Ralph - GOOD - Awesome. For anyone who ever played video games it is a must see.

Sound City - GOOD - Very interesting documentary about Sound City studios in California and their infamous NEVE console. An incredible number of major bands and hit records came out of that place.

Flight - GOOD - Denzel Washington. Nuff said. Really doesnt have much to do with planes at all. An great portrayal of the affects of addiction.

Searching for Sugar Man - GOOD - Oscar winning doc about an unknown artist from the 70s being one of the biggest hits ever in South Africa without even knowing it.

Argo - Meh - ...Typical rah rah america! bs.

Probably a big reason why it did in fact walk away with the best picture award. It was the safe bet among the other American film contenders. Lincoln got ripped apart by critics for historical inaccuracies and passive portrayal of blacks, while Zero Dark Thirty which was declared the favoured pick early on eventually got criticized for its alleged pro-torture stance. The only real criticism at Argo came from the Canadian Ambassador during the Iranian crisis, Ken Taylor and a handful of Canadian journalists. Obviously, a group with no clout in Hollywood.

When the entire story comes from one CIA guy who spent a grand total of something like 24 hours actually in-country, while other people were actually planning and making things happen, you can bet that the historical accuracy is suspect.

Snitch - Good movie. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson did a great job portraying an every day family man who wants to protect his son. Not a blow-everything-in-sight-up action but good action, good storyline, great acting. Even though the Rock is still as big as ever, not once does he shows or uses his muscles...good job in getting out of the type-cast role.

I've heard good things about this movie and only one negative; the idea that someone built like a Greek God could portray an ordinary guy.

Mama - Awesome movie, finally a horror film that doesn't come off as being cheesy/corny.

Identity Thief - It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be... The trailer definitely bigged it up more than it should have.

A Good Day To Die Hard - Great film, great action scenes. Loved the story/plot, unexpected ending. Really enjoyed it.

Snitch - Good movie, a little too slow at some parts but enjoyed it regardless.

I've finally got the chance to watch both. Those are really good movies imho.

I don't know why everyone is saying Die hard sucked, but i think it was funny & climatic. Interesting twist of events & storyline. I would see it again

Ugh Die Hard, I totally lost interest half way through.

Die Hard it is then...

The only way I can see someone not enjoying that movie is if they missed the plot. I think Bruce Willis is still doing well as an action star

It's finally out! Downloading now.

Watched it, found it pretty boring. They presented something incredibly cool and interesting in a very bland way.

Still a good watch.

I know full well that's why it won. At least if it was a half decent movie It wouldn't be so hard to bear.

Yup agreed. I didn't think it was a horrible movie but I mentioned earlier in this thread how I thought there was a lot of hype behind Argo. Large parts of the movie were dull and so was the acting. Perhaps the most boring lead character ever in a movie to win best picture. Affleck should quit acting and just stick to directing. But he knew who his audience was and played that card perfectly. Not only was the film pro American but ultimately pro Hollywood as well. A movie about how the CIA and Hollywood saved the hostages. How could a movie industry, known for its narcissism, not enjoy that?

Also saw Life of Pi... good movie overall, not great. But beautiful art direction, visual effects, and cinematography.

Great movie. A+, just put subtitles on. Some of the best war/action sequences I've seen that don't look stupidly faked.

Loved that one and got me on a foreign movie binge at the time lol

Baytown Outlaws - A lady hires 3 brothers, contract killers to get her godson (who'll be worth a lot of $$$ once he turns 18 ) from her gangster ex husband. The contract killers are rednecks and brother.. Not a bad modern western-comedy, with a bit of a Warriors twist (the ex husband sends some pretty colorful hitters after the brothers), but not great either. They slowed down the plot a bit too much at times. They should have kept it moving and maybe added a bit more gratuitous violence, not that the movie was short on it.

Not a new release, but still one of the better western's of all time - "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" with Tommy Lee Jones and Julio Cedillo. Set in modern times, very light on violence, more about friendship, character development, tolerance and keeping a promise.. Got some pretty good cast even though some of the better actors got very minor roles (like Vanessa Bauche, for example). You also come across some interesting people throughout the movie. Not mindless entertainment, but still enjoyable and good for a chill-out.

Olympus has fallen

Decent action flick. Very die hard esque.
Replace the office building from die hard 1 with the white house and mix in Gerard butler instead of Bruce Willis and there's your movie. Good popcorn flick.

Saw "End of Watch" last night and it was actually pretty good, would def recommend. Basically a story of two street level cops on their daily grind, a lot of the movie is shot in first person, which makes it pretty unique. Ending was a little weird but all in all a very entertaining movie.

Still trying to get through Lincoln without falling asleep, good acting etc, but it's painfully dull and boring.

Silver Linings Playbook was really good as someone else said a chick flick that's worth a watch. Great story, cast and ending.

Argo I really enjoyed, besides the USA bs the movie was very entertaining.
