about to watch " here comes the Boom "

no high expectations. looks like another " watch the fat guy act stupid " kinda movie.

Formulaic and utterly predictable underdog movie. But it works at the comedy level with enough charm from supporting characters. Unexpectedly enjoyable.

Paul Blart - Cage Fighter

I think that a minor twist would have made the ending better. As it's thoroughly predictable I almost posted what the ending and my proposed change would be, but it occurred to me that some people might still not know it was coming

Agreed.. I was actually surprised by the fact that I wasn't asking for my time back, but it's not like I'll be watching it again.

The Divide - Post-Apocalyptic nuclear shelter people turn on each other kinda flick.. Nothing special. Skip unless you're really into PA

Die Hard 5 in IMAX...... fun movie, better than I expected. The action scenes ranged from okay to great, but the last 15-20 mins is my fav Die Hard climax of them all. Some really good photography in it.

Bruce Willis is obviously getting old, but I enjoyed it. IMAX has made me lose some hearing (I still hear white noise and the movie finished an hour ago). I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much without it.

3/5 - Not amazing, but not bad either and has good potentialy to entertain everyone

I just finished watching Total Recall. The one with Colin Farrel.

Pretty damn good movie! 2 Thumbs way up!
I thought it would've been another cheesy remake, that's why I never watched it in the theaters. I cannot compare it to the original because I've never watched the whole thing, only piece by piece. After all, I was young at the time and watching a movie with a woman with 3 boobs can get pretty awkward when your parents are around.

But back to the remake, the story line was good, it really did flow, the first 15mins was boring because they were building up the characters and laying the foundation for what is to follow.

I like how the author projected the future, how the cars will be without wheels, they will be pivoted on a magnetic field, much like how some of the modern trains are doing it now. The roads are most likely made of ferrous metal.
Phones can be imbedded in the palms of your hands and when you place your palms on a glass you basically get "face time" lol. To use it as a phone you just cup your hands to your ears, pretty impressive and I can see this happening in the future. It seems like transparent LCDs would also be the way of the future, lol.

Another thing I love was where Bryan Cranston (from Breaking Bad) was also part of the movie. I only recognized him when he give his evil speech, lol. He has more hair and look a bit younger here.I will try not to give away too much of the movie.

If you're a sci-fi geek, I highly recommend this movie.

The only inconsistency in the movie was where at one point the robots were bulletproof but at certain parts at the end, there were being destroyed by a submachine gun.

Another thing was this Movie was filmed in Toronto and other parts of Ontario. I saw what looked like the TTC & what looked like a subway station.

just saw the new Total Recall, not bad as an action flick but wtf happened to mars??!

pretty cool movie, but again no total recall in my books

anyone else find it odd they skipped a bunch of true parts that made the original?

minus the 3 titties...that was spot on

They omitted Mars and only put Earth in this scenario. They said Earth was ravaged by war and certain portions were inhospitable, so habitation was only possible on 2 sections of the Earth. They have to travel thru the earth's crust to get to the other section. I love the idea that when they reach the center, they would experience zero gravity. There was a fight scene where Farrel's character shoot the gun to propel him to another direction, lol.

I love that they can use a bracelet around the neck to project a halogram for a different face, lol. Pretty interesting idea.

also saw End of Watch....now that was freakin awesome....very well done too. With parts being filmed by the cops own camera...unique in a way and cool. The interaction between the fellow cops and bad guys to some extent is somewhat realistic. Two thumbs up for sure. Will watch again.

Awesome movie, just watched it the other night and it was better than I anticipated.

I finally saw "Skyfall." As someone who is a few years older than Craig, and who was raised on a steady diet of Bond movies, I could completely appreciate the message.

It's very much a movie of the "thug in an expensive suit" Bond, who is far closer to the Bond of the novels.

I saw Argo. It was meh... a lot of American hype behind it. It downplayed and omitted a lot of the Canadian contributions with the CIA taking the glory. Obviously, you have to understand it's a Hollywood movie where the target audience is mainly American. The acting was also nothing noteworthy.

A la Saving Private Ryan? They also neglected the role Canada had in the war along with other allies

Yup, lots of TO spots in the movie. I instantly recognized UofT, subway stations, Commerce Court, Metro Convention Centre, etc... there was even a CTV news anchor in the movie.

As u can tell, I don't spend too much time downtown, lol.

This summer I should take a ride downtown more often, try to see some movie sets :D

Well the role of the Allies wasn't really the story Hanks and Spielberg were trying to tell in that movie. At least the acting, directing, cinematography, action set pieces, etc. in Saving Private Ryan were all memorable.

Affleck and his character in Argo was dull and so were his supporting cast. That's my main knock against it. The omission or twisting of certain facts, well you keep that in the back of your mind but again, it's Hollywood and Affleck knows who his audience is. If I wanted to watch something more factual, I'd watch a documentary. On that note, there is supposed to be a Canadian made documentary coming out this year on the Iranian hostage crisis.

Not a bad idea. Pacific Rim which comes out this summer is supposed to be the biggest movie shot in Toronto yet. Although I wonder how much of it people will be able to make out from behind all the CGI and blue screen.

The street in the first 10 seconds of this trailer is actually Toronto dressed up to look like a decimated Japanese city.
