“Now if you’re playing the movie on a telephone, you will never in a trillion years experience the film,” Lynch calmly but forcefully intones into a studio mic. “You’ll think you have experienced it, but you’ll be cheated. It’s such a sadness that you think you’ve seen a film on your ******* telephone. Get real.”
David Lynch

Currently watching "The Pale Blue Eye" on Netflix. It's a 1830s police procedural starring Christian Bale as a broken, retired police investigator, who is brought into West Point to find the identity of the killer of one of the cadets. He is assisted by another cadet, one Edgar Allan Poe, who is played by Harry Melling. I'm quite enjoying it and hope that the ending holds up.

I also watched "Mayhem", last night, on Prime. It stars Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving. The movie takes place in a corporate law office. There's an outbreak of a virus, that removes people's inhibitions. Violence ensues. Weaving is just excellent at playing unhinged characters (see also "The Babysitter") and would be my second choice to play Harley Quinn, after Margot Robbie.

Christian Bale is a force of nature.
If you've not seen him as a kid in Empire of the Sun you've missed the birth of a brilliant actor.

Glass Onion was a fun send up.

Pale Blue Eye on te list once we finish For All Mankind.

Watched this the other night

Really captures the types of people you may have worked with back in your youth.
Also a lot of terminology or improper language not used today, kinda surprised as the movie isn't that old.

"Let him go"
Nothing special.

Pale Blue Eye is easily in the running for my best of the year (I know it is early). It is also fun to figure out who plays Edgar Allen Poe.

Top Gun Maverick - I thought it was excellent.

WW84 - I made it about 20mins and turned it off. Enjoyed the others in this series but not this one.

well that was a couple of hours I won't get back

I like Michel Yeoh and some of the other actors but see no value in the mess. How it won the Golden Globe while Avatar was snubbed is beyond me (n)

Agreed, was very dissappointed. It was too artsy and flaky for lack of better words. I got about 30ms in and had enough.

I thought Mavericks was forgettable, except for Kilmer's appearance.

WW84 - yup unwatchable.

Most pretentious tripe I’ve ever seen.
