Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

I'm a big fan of David Byrne so i bought a copy of the Sean Penn movie "This Must be the Place". Might be a stinker. I'll let you know.

I don't think many people will like it. I thought it was great. Sean Penn did a great job with a difficult role.

Anyone watched Turning Red?
My queue is way too long before I'll get to it but I am interesting in this one as it has a very tight Toronto connection and told to be very representative.

My grandkids will watch it soon. A few snowflakes are spouting off about the mention of menstruation in a children's film. The cancel culture will probably demand that it be edited. **** them!

Dreamland - Margot Robbie topless but that’s about it that’s enjoyable in this movie. I was expecting a better storyline.

The Trench - its just under 2hrs long and you watch the first hour thinking it’s a war movie so something will happen but nothing does so you figure for sure some excitement will happen in the second hour but nope. It’s just soldiers, in a trench, with not a lot happening.

Reminds me of another war movie that came out a few years back that the name escapes me on right now.

Passchendale?

Prob that movie that was done with no camera breaks. I only made it 40min through that one then shut it off.
Edit: “1917” was the title.

At least there was action!

After a long day of spring cleaning, this made for a nice distraction:

I think its in Swedish or some other Nordic language but has English subtitles.

Deep Water - Ana De Armas being sexy is all this movie has going for it (and how does Ben go back to J-Ho after dating Ana?!). Anyways Ana isn’t enough to save this movie sadly.

Found it, was actually Dunkirk.

Speaking of a major snoozer, that was The Power of the Dog for me. It was like watching paint dry. I literally had to take a nap halfway through the movie. Watched the rest of it later but still boring ... yeah some good acting but it takes more than that for me.

On to a movie I really enjoyed that kept me focused on it for the full time, Extraction on Netflix with Chris Hemsworth. I thought he was excellent in it ... lots of gunfire with the main good guy being the only one who can actually hit anyone, but outside of that I highly recommend it.

+1 spot on, I only finished it because of the sexy protagonista cubana :)

Ana in the last Bond film was one of the better scene's in the entire movie.
Tough call between the 2 latina's, maybe Ben likes a little more junk in the trunk.

The Invisible Man (2020) on Netflix. Not bad, intense and interesting take on century old book. (Tech is more believable than poor naked/invisible man running around if you read the original book)

The Adam Project - Meh, even for such a fan of ANY sci-fi this was pretty weak, I'd skip it if I knew..

Gf & I watched "Out of Death" with Bruce Willis on Netflix last Friday and thought there's something just not right with Willis ... learned yesterday he's suffering from a cognitive condition called aphacia.

Probably the worst movie we've ever seen but we now understand why Willis's performance was what it was.

Not making fun of WIllis condition, it's terrible news. But there were a host of movies over the past few years where he was billed as a headline and basically shows up as a cameo.

There’s stories where he’s basically just doing those for a quick payday. Short cameo, $1-2M, rinse and repeat.

I would do the same if given the opportunity.

Watched the King’s Man recently. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend. It’s the prequel to Kingsman movie franchise.
