Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Thanks I guess it'll go in the download list.

You mean the rent/Netflix list.. People should not admit to that sort of stuff in public forums nowadays

By the way, I just finished watching Like a Dragon.. I'm generally not a big fan of video game movies, especially since the main character tends to be an actor of limited talent, that just happens to look like the main character. I liked this one because it was just plain weird. I'll probably even keep it.

The Mission (1999).. Another solid action by Johnnie To.. Like Robert Rodriguez, he likes to recycle his cast, but fortunately he's even better at it. If you're looking for a solid action movies, this is another winner from Johnnie.

I just watched Dead Space (the first one from 2008... forget the rest of the name) last night. It wasn't very good IMO.

Just watched part one of Che. Awesome performance by Benicio Del Toro. Seems fairly honest and doesn't glorify the Cuban revolution more than it needs to. Fantastic visuals as well. Makes me wish I could speak Spanish, but I don't mind subtitles.

Vengeance - Another Johnny To flick, and surprise surprise.. Simon Yam as Triad boss again lol.. It was pretty good in the beginning, but near the end, the old man's affliction and how it influenced the rest of the movie was too much of an embellishment.. Still, a solid gun-fu flick, definitely entertaining

unless you're behind a proxy and using us netflix, there really isnt much on canadian netflix...

annd if you are, can you please teach me???

Infernal Affairs - I resisted watching that one because I've already seen the remake (The Departed, won the Best Picture Oscar).. The remake was a decent flick, but I wasn't blown away.. The original was a couple of levels beyond that and definitely something you wanna check out, especially if you liked the remake.

Somebody posted up a pretty long how-to thread on DSLR, in the Canadian Broadband section.. I don't have any Netflix-capable devices in my house other than my wife's laptop. The problem is that they use Microsoft's Silverlight for streaming. Had they used an open standard, I'd have jumped onboard as soon as they arrived on our market. Basically, you need a VPN and there is some scheme with getting an actual US Visa from RBC.. I just gave it a quick glance.

The tunnel (2011). It is free, I believe, so check it out. Amazing movie. It is horror much like Blair witch or cloverfield. They did a very good job.

I thought Harry Brown was good. Expecting to see a triple digit body count from a movie about a disenfranchised, back against the wall, senior citizen is a bit of a stretch.

Every John Woo movie - Get $600K from investors. spend $500K on blanks.

Saw Kill the Irishman last week. It's a fact based story about Danny Green, an Irish mobster from Cleveland in the 70s, and was very good.

Saw Passion Play last night. It was.......different.

Wow, totally enjoyed X-Men First Class. Best of the series by far. Takes place in the original comic books' era of the early 60's and wraps the story around historical events. Visually inspired by James Bond, Dr. Strangelove and The Prisoner. Great cameo by Hugh Jackman.

OH!!! easy with the spoilers!!

Regarding "The Priest" It was aaaight....cool premise behind the background story and the whole alternate world storyline where things are the "same" but different.
Dont hold your breath on oscar nomiated actors or story (although i do like the main actor, hes done great supporting roles in the past).

Priest was ****...

This looked like a chick flick. Is it more like a SNL sketch?

Just saw this with the wife. THey totally slammed a romantic comedy and the Hangover together (heavy on the hangover). Very good flick, but there is still the basic guy wants girl whoes not interested romantic storyline to it. Hangover 2 gets my vote as the better movie between the two. However, my girl thinks Bridesmaids takes it.

Either is a good movie, but the women will side with bridesmaids and the guys will enjoy hangover 2.
