Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Saw Mad Max FR last night. The second half was much better than the first but still not nearly as good as the earlier one's in the series. I'm not a big Mad Max fan but I saw Beyond Thunderdome again last week and realized how good it was now that I've seen the new one.

... and then you realize that it was by far the weakest of the original three.

Jurassic World. Not bad, good action, semi-plausible in the sense of "Dino's are walking the earth again..."

I like the tie-ins to old Jurassic Park. Overall an 8/10. Would watch again. It was obvious Merc sponsored all the vehicles as anything with 4 wheels bigger than a UTV was a merc

I thoroughly enjoyed Jurassic World. Such a fun movie. Had a few plot holes/questionable things but still a good movie. Loved the throw backs of the jeep and goggles. Probably tied as the best of the series along with the original. Not a cult classic like the original but still very fun. Would watch again.

edit:
I think it was also sponsored by Samsung due to all the tech being made by Samsung like all phones and one of the swat guys wearing a Samsung Smart Watch and Verizon Wireless.

Jurassic world was pretty good. Lots of corporate sponsorship throughout the movie. It wasn't overly done just like in man of steel so I didn't mind it much, but was very noticeable.

Just got back from watching Jurassic World, I have to say that was a very enjoyable movie, reflects back to Jurassic Park in many ways...a must see in 3D, definitely way better than Mad Max!

I just caught Chappie last night (recently released on DVD), which is from the director of District 9, so very South African based.

I was surprised that 1/2 of the main actors aren't actors at all, but are Yolandi Visser and Ninja from Die Antwoord (with my surname being Visser, I found it amusing to have my last name in a big name movie -- near the end you'll see it)... not a bad flick, but no relation to the weirdo that is Yolandi Visser:

Just finished watching "Jupiter Ascending." I know that it was pretty universally panned, but I thought it was an enjoyable action movie. Sure, the story is as old as storytelling itself but the angle was interesting, the effects were pretty darned good and, above all else, it didn't look like everything else that Hollywood has been churning out.

Mad Max fury road.
Can't like this movie enough, would watch it over and over again.
Only a man's man would enjoy that movie. Not for everyone.

Movie of the year for me

Another nod for JW. Funny what folks have noticed with product placement.

Starbucks was the one I found distracting.

Great popcorn movie.

just watched Whiplash on Netflix. decent movie, but was a bit disappointed. i've been told that it was an "amazing movie etc." i guess i just expected a lot out of it. still a good movie. but it's not life changing or anything. 8/10, wouldn't watch again cause it's one of those movies you just need to watch once and that's it.

Jurassic World. Enjoyed it bought wasn't blown away nor disappointed. Pretty much what I expected it to be which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Just watched Justice League Flashpoint Paradox as recommended in this thread. Pretty decent. A lot darker than most superhero cartoons I've seen. Any others like it?

Also saw Jurassic World the other day. Also very good. The product placement isn't nearly as bad as everyone said.

Dragon Blade - ancient Chinese and Roman armies meet with lots of cheesy singing. I wouldn't watch again.

Ted 2.

If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. Same kinda laughs.

Project Almanac was on my rainy day list and whaddya know... I ended up watching it today. I enjoyed it for the drama but the story was full of holes. I know, every time travel movie has causality issues and paradoxes are inevitable. But the problem with this flick is that the temporal behaviour isn't consistent. I don't want to spoil the movie but if you're a fan of time travel movies you'll see what I mean. Acting was also a little cheesy and nothing new was explored making it pretty predictable. Basically it was a crappy version of Primer--which I loved btw.

Looks like tomorrow's another rainy day so maybe I'll knock another couple movies off the list.

Jurassic World is trash. I was bored as hell the entire movie save for the last half hour. No suspense whatsoever, barely a story, no character development, CG everywhere but none of it is memorable, seriously, nearly fell asleep. The action at the end is cool and yes, the last dino death is cool and unexpected and had me LOLing but other than that........trash.
