Re: the titanic submersible issue

“adventurer” again in the write up. No, he’s a rich **** that bought a theme park ride ticket not many people could afford.

This is an adventurer Thor Heyerdahl - Wikipedia

As expected. A recovery mission at best disguised as search and rescue. Billionaires are important.
I mean it sounds bad but this is a fantastic opportunity to search for a lost sub as a training exercise…

I guess it will be up to the lawyers now.
Is there even much left to fight over? How long will OceanGate continue to exist without Stockton Rush? None of the estates of the people onboard will have a very strong case.

Especially the copious amounts of waivers they signed.

There will be lawsuits, but with the CEO dead, and Directors running and hiding behind the corporate veil…only the lawyers will win.

The co-founder is still around. I wouldn't want to be up against the lawyers hired by very angry billionaires. Oceangate was finished Sunday morning. Every person associated with oceangate should expect strongly worded letters.

Probably be more fighting internally between the families of th deceased
It is an interesting question. When the dead are worth more than 1B each, is it worth the hassle and lawyer money to try to add at most a few million to the estate? I would think no if you are going after insurance money. If the goal is to leave the co-founder destitute, maybe yes.

I expect none of the people on board will get any payout from a life insurance policy. Don't all life policies have some sort of 'extreme activities' clause. that negates payout?
I would think diving 12,500 ft to the bottom of the ocean in an uncertified craft controlled by a gaming joystick just may qualify as an extreme activity.

I think anything surrounding the Titanic is always going to grab headlines.

I hope this is the end of trying to make the site a toursit destination. I know it won't be, but they should just let things lie and leave it alone.

It won't be the end.
They may put it to rest for some time but I would expect that as technology gets better they will be able to design and built better "vehicles" to get to the bottom of the ocean.

Stupid people will always spend stupid money to get their name in the paper that they are one of the few to make it down there and come back. OR to be the first ones on a newly built sub with a gourmet kitchen and a successful exploration.

I agree, stay the hell away! But, where there's big money to be made that's unlikely :cautious:

The first reasonable answer , and it comes from Hollywood . My world keeps getting weirder.

He's on the forefront of extreme deep sea diving. Rolex made a commemorative watch to celebrate his Marianas Trench dive.

The 1 of 1 watch strapped to the hull on the dive.
