Narrowly focused highly-pressurized liquids are scary. I learned about something horrifying the other day from the Hydraulic Press Channel: hydraulic injection injuries. The puncture wound itself is tiny, but the skin can either blow off your hand (degloving) or fill up with the pressurized liquid like a balloon.

Air hurts too.a few years ago I was holding a carb jet while shooting compressed air thru the orifice. I slipped, and blew a blister of air under the skin on my thumb.

Whoops. Deep energy tried to push past the limits on their rov in the search. I think they were the first rov on scene. Rov was lost. I wonder who picks up that bill?
Rov that found debris was hired by oceangate. Might as well light the remaining investor money on fire as company is finished once people realize you had zero rescue plan in place (yet alone one waiting on the surface ship).
The owner of a remotely operated vehicle that recovered pieces of the Titan submersible from the depths of the North Atlantic last week says his ROV found debris from the doomed vessel shortly after reaching the search site.

First lesson we were taught at trade school , that compressed air blower hose looks handy to blow all the dust off your pants . Never ever do it .
Now you know why .

It's hard to find a blower without a safety tip these days. I suspect most commercial ships should have osha compliant guns.
I had a chance to get a blow off station for a reasonable price but don't normally get dusty enough in the garage. It was similar to a hvlp turbine. Lots of low pressure air to get the job done and avoid injury.
One single plane sent from nova scotia cost the taxpayers almost $3M during this search. Holy crap. This entire pretend rescue effort was probably in the ballpark of $100M.
It cost at least $2.4 million to deploy a single Canadian aircraft to search for the Titanic submersible that went missing on June 18, CTVNews.ca has learned.

How is that even possible? Aren't the pilots and maintenance crew etc already on the govt payroll wether the plane goes out or not? Shouldn't the only real cost have been the fuel used? How much carbon tax is the Canadian military paying per liter of avgas?

I discount those reports. Canadian Search and Rescue is a fully funded gov't service, those planes fly in surveillance, sovereignty patrol, and training missions all the time, if there is an incremental cost it would be negligible.
What do you figure it cost for JT's entourage to fly to Lac Megantic for a photo op this week?

Lots of maintenance is based on flight hours. Assuming it flew more hours per day than it would have on standby (very reasonable assumption imo), there can be a steep incremental cost.
Here's a paper from 30 years ago showing maintenance cost per flight hour of almost 5k. Thats probably at least 15K per flight hour now.
The argument would be did anyone ask for a rescue party. If no one asked for help but someone volunteered, is the volunteer owed compensation.
Lots of misguided actions have produced usable information, particularly in war. Is smashing an egg with a sledge hammer usable information worth millions of dollars?
Of course a lot of the rescue work was initiated before anyone realized what a chit show the project was.
Well that's very debatable. The mothership had a pretty good idea this went very poorly (apparent transcript leaked of sub to ship communications) and US military almost certainly knew it was over before it started but didn't want to disclose capabilities. The interesting question is, was this a known recovery mission of billionaires from the beginning sold as a rescue for political reasons? I suspect yes. I have my doubts that coast guard was given all available information but Biden probably knew from the start. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they kept our Professional Moron in the dark as he is likely to blab.
