Racism against blacks in 'Murica

In Nyc for the day. I noticed people here are prejudiced against black people.

At laguardia, I think they tazed a black guy in Terminal D. He was put on a stretcher while yelling "I'm a human being."

I don't know what he did, but he looked harmless. If you have been in LaGuardia, you know it's a place to easily lose your temper.

Also, took an uber while here. Middle eastern male started honking and yelling at a black guy who was crossing the street. Ranted for 5 min about "niggers ruining America."

What's your take on American attitude towards black people? I've noticed that a lot of companies that are diverse won't have any black workers or has very few.

Discuss.

Can you really go to a sovereign state and judge how they treat their own? Maybe spend a little time there and get to know the customs. I once saw an impassioned speech by the chief of police of a major US city (not world class tho) that would curl the hair on the back of your neck down to your plumbers crack. It would seem a tazering is just a shot across the bow.

If you think it's bad in the NE, try going to the south.

I about lost my **** on some bayou redneck down in Mississippi after what he said to an older black guy in the aisle of a Harbor Freight. But then I remembered that the backwards bayou redneck probably had a hip cannon and wouldn't appreciate my Canadian views. I already stood out enough wearing shorts in February (it was 20 degrees, although that's cold for them in Feb) and our accent is picked out in about 4 syllables down there.

But, FWIW, NYC isn't really indicative of the greater NE, much like how behaviour or many in Toronto isn't indicative of the rest of Ontario.

Racism is prevalent everywhere, in every country that has visible minorities. It's bad in the US, but it's also bad in Canada with First Nations.

Speaking of First Nations, I was listening to CBC radio the other day and there was some kind of proud to be a native type talk show on. The guy was from Six Nations and after all the chest pounding the host asked him to name all six nations. Couldn't name them. Awkward.

Listened to a six nations "representative" on the radio last year stating their case about planting and harvesting rice on Rice Lake - cottagers vs indians type thing. I lost a lot of respect for the first nations side of things listening to him hurling insults at the cottagers (some of them quite childish) and showing a complete disregard for anyone other than his own views, much less apparently giving two craps about the laws and treaties related to the issue.

Greater than 50% of the people on my Facebook is black. I wonder if people think of me any differently

Not just "blacks", have you seen or heard Donald Trump?

Not just Merica, have you seen or heard Stephen Harper, and Jason Kenney?

Racism is everywhere, it is an ongoing fight against it, we need to keep up the good fight. We will always have to keep up the fight, otherwise the racists win.

The bad illegal mexicans that build you real estate

The terrorist muslims that we must keep out "until we figure **** out"

Calling everyone names

Lying blatently when he's PUBLICLY EXPOSED AND RECORDED...

That's Trump for ya.

But yeah, racism is there to stay until we will want to understand our neighbor instead of judging him. But such is our nature. The mindless crowd hive mind is stronger than the single strong willed individual in most cases, in diametrically opposed views.

All i can see with Trump is an amplifier/a voice, to the hate and ignorance that resides in those people's hearts. So aiming at other minorities only helps validate the existing hate that would reside against a prevalent minority (the black community) making it seem right to voice any invalid opinion or lie that might come through your mind.

Its messed up.

I wonder if we aren't all a little bit racist but racism comes in different degrees from simple ignorance to radical hate. Ignorance can be cured but haters gonna hate.

Is a big black bouncer more intimidating than a big white one?

Why?

And don't forget about coal fired power plants. Nobody likes those.

If you're not born wary of other people you certainly learn to be soon enough. When the other people are of a different race all of a sudden it's racism? No, you're wary of other people who just happen to be of a different race. I think that covers a very large part of it. Does racism exist? Of course, but not to the extent that it's blown up to be. Just the fact that we have yet another thread devoted to this makes my point.

My brother lives in Seoul, he's been there 20 years. He married a Korean girl 10 years ago and I went over as best man along with my mum. It was a **** show.

The open hostility toward us was overwhelming. She was in tears from all the hate towards her marrying a waygook-nom. By the end of the night I wanted to beat the **** out of someone.

But, that's when I finally realized how others can feel in our own country. Ultimately going through that bs, I think it made be a better person.

Anyways, they're divorced now. My brother bailed a couple years ago. He saw no future with her, especially with how mixed-marriage kids are treated there. He dates British women now.
