Question: What is all about the male obsession about cars? From the people whose gotta own the latest luxury-germans to the tuner fanboys, why are males so obsessed with their cars? They all treat their cars like their newborn!! Their love for their cars is WAY TOO FRIGGIN MUCH!! They don't mind dropping a small fortune on the upkeep either. AND THEY WASH THEIR CARS WAY TOO OFTEN!!

I am a guy and don't get it, do I have to join in to fit in?

Please give me your thoughts. Thanks.

My car is a ten year minivan. Tell me again about how I'm obsessed with cars?

Maybe they are leaving for what they will die for?

Mind translating that into English?

Living for what they will die for! Misspelled Living

I drive a 13 year old sedan. I treat it well and wash it once a week during the winter. I drop money where necessary. New tyres? Sure! Ball joint, control arm or axle clicking? Yea replace it or replace it later when your tire gets worn by it. New battery? Sure! I hate it when the car doesnt start when its freezing cold. New dizzy cap/rotor? Sure mind at ease that my car will work? Sparkplugs? Etc etc. well you get the point. But there are also those crazy people that baby their car and waste tons of money on aesthetic and "performance".

Whats the matter with taking care of something? I'm sure you have hobbies and passions, some people love cars, some people love bikes, some people love to travel and some love their kids. I wash my truck about twice a week in the winter because I like it to be clean, its also a '82 f250 with no rust, its nice taking pride in something you own. Some people think its a waste of money to sink money into anything other than rrsp's and property...But at the end of the day if that person is happy with their life whats the problem.

SOme people are gearheads....some people simply view a car as transportation. Some people love horses....dogs, boats, airplanes, video games.

Well said. Some enjoy things differently than others. To some of us cars are a form of art (exotics obviously not some acura/honda pos) bikes are up there with cars in the same respect for a lot of people. Having a bigger house in a look at me neighborhood doesn't do it for everyone

Its 1915…. Soichiro Honda was just 8 years old when he saw his first motor car. It was a Model T Ford. "I couldn't help running after it. It leaked oil," he later fondly recalled, "and I got down on my knees to smell it. It was like perfume."

To the OP, You either get it or you don't. Some of us are born "car guys", and enjoy the form of it in one way or another.

OP…it all comes down to this….different strokes for different folks…no more no less.

I think the OP is talking about the ricers who buy a Civic and then drop equivalent money on it to get it to Acura performance levels.

And when they need that something extra on their slammed Civic, they get this giant rear spoiler and mount it on the back... Of their front wheel drive car..
