Question for the males (it's about autos)

My first car was a 87 firebird. I replaced just about everything on that boat. Good lessons. Who knows, without it I might have been driving a Yaris and done my oil changes at the dealer.

The only thing on this car that will be stock in the end is the body and most of the interior aside from gauges and seats.
LS1 with a 6 speed, all the suspension upgrades, eventually C5 vette brakes, stronger rear end and then eventually some form of forced induction... Keeping the appearance as stock looking as possible so it just looks like a nicely kept car... Just so I can pick on some unsuspecting d-bags that think the car is still slow.
The girls love t-tops too.
My first standard driving lesson was in an 88 t-top camaro, I've always loved that era of f-body.

Oooooh, Did it have the cool screaming chicken on the hood too? That right there added about 20hp.

Its actually a long running tradition from the factory. Once my car gets paint done I'll have a bird on the hood. It's one of the most recognized car emblems, you see it and you think of something like that 78 in your pic... Timeless.

My "rice rocket" probably produces more torque than your deisel truck.

I can appreciate a well built civic ricer just as I can a cleanly restored or built trans am. I wouldn't drive either one personally, but I still see the cool factor in each car. IMO.... true car guys don't hate on another type of vehicle just because it's not their prefered type.

The guys that are knocking riced out civics... have never had a ride in or driven a well built example... I used to think the same, say the same... until a former co-worker, in response to my jabs, took me for a couple of laps in his 92 civic track car... shut me up and changed my mind!
Someone mentioned the dumb founded look on faces... you should see the look on a ferrari or corvette owners face when a riced out civic pulls them down on the back straight... or goes around them on the outside of a turn at a local track.

So you're able to drive around your dentist or your mom's new boyfriend??

Do they have a trophy for that?

I appreciate well done cars, doesn't matter what it is... What I laugh at is the typical ricer. unpainted body kit, removed back seats for weight savings with a 100lb sound system installed, crappy exhaust etc. I go to meets every once in a while and I'll stop to look at an import if it's been done right... But normally it's a bunch of young guys in their mom's hand me down Honda.

I can't wait for the day that I pull on a $100,000 car in my "white trash mobile". I do get more compliments on my car than what it deserves or what I would have expected before I bought it.

raginduck, just out of curiosity, how much torque does your car put out? It must have one serious roll cage and beefed up chassis.

No kidding the 6.7 Powerstroke makes almost 800lb/ft...Not sure there's a 4 banger or straight 6 making those kind of numbers.

Yeah... I didn't know they put out that much... I was assuming 500lbs or so when I said that...
