Question for the males (it's about autos)

I have a buddy who has over $50 grand tied up in bicycles and cycling stuff.
So be it.

Our society has become judgemental about people's homes, cars, and investments as a sign of affluence....but have lost sight of more important things like happiness, satisfaction, family etc.

You never hear anyone speaking highly of someone who is broke...... "Oh look, there's Angie......sure she doesn't own a car and has to rent a tiny apartment, but she has the best relationship with her siblings, volunteers at the soup kitchen, and sings in the church choir. She always has a huge smile and she must be very happy in her life"..........nope...doesn't happen.

Society uses money as a proxy money to happiness. I think we're all guilty of it on some level. I know I am at times.

I'm down to around that. Used to be much worse. Good example of to each their own. Buddy at work was always mouthing off that I was nuts. Shut up as soon as I said any bike I own is worth more than his civic. It's not for everyone but I love riding.

I really love my car... because it takes care of my needs, not the other way around.

I love my truck, I hate the car (wifes car) , but you cant debate the merits or stupidity of anybody else 's hobby. I fish with a guy that's got well over 100k tied up to outsmart fish. The road bike sunday guys have moved to all carbon bikes @ 8-10k with the latest greatest. You can pedal a bike for $89.00 from CTC or $8,900. from Cervelo. I keep sailboats and race yachts, I'll trade budgets with anybody.

Some of us are born "car guys"

Can count the number of times I've seen someone driving a mid 80s Civic in the last 5 years on one finger (it was mint, though).

Most of these grocery getters are not worth anything so people just get rid of them. People would collect luxury brands because they are worth more.

You see alot of old audis around because you're probably part of that club. I don't recall seeing any of those driving around. I've seen so much early 90s Accord scooting around

You asked a trollish question. I gave a serious answer (in spite of your trolling). You don't like the answer. For that, you get an "Awwwww, muffin".

So what you're telling me is that an Audi will outlast a civic ?
Lolz

It will eat a civic. A bicycle outlasts a civic and an audi, but that doesn't make it better. I owned a civic for a few months. I'll take my 380k audi over a new civic any day.

This is the era of the "unintended acceleration" Audi? That fiasco almost sunk the whole company.

There is a lot of ******** surrounding that claim

60 Minutes aired a report titled Out of Control on November 23, 1986,[24] featuring interviews with six people who had sued Audi after reporting unintended acceleration, including footage of an Audi 5000 ostensibly displaying a surge of acceleration while the brake pedal was depressed.[25][26][27] Subsequent investigation revealed that 60 Minutes had not disclosed they had engineered the vehicle's behavior – fitting a canister of compressed air on the passenger-side floor, to pump fluid via a hose to a hole drilled into the transmission[24][25] — the arrangement executed by one of the experts who had testified on behalf of a plaintiff in a then-pending lawsuit against Audi's parent company.[28]

Also the pedals were close together for heel and toe shifting. That lead to pedal confusion.

All day long and ive owned an 08 si 91 si and a 2006 Audi s4. There's not a comparison from honda to Audi nor will it last as long even if they're both maintained properly.
