Provincial politics

I was rather surprised to find that they were prepared to handle it. No fumbling around.

They were right on it. As soon as I said I was declining my ballot they went straight to the procedure. I'd assume they were briefed ahead of time with the media coverage re: the procedures and grass root campaigns recently. I'm guessing about 20ish names per page. I was the second declined on my page. That's 10%. Hardly a meaningful sample as stats go, but it's all the info for me to go on till the polls close.

I hate to have to dumb this down again, but here goes:

If you don't support any of the parties/platforms, the best course of action is to decline your ballot, as opposed to staying home or voting for a 'lesser evil'. You're simply voicing your displeasure with the available choices.

Perhaps someone, some day, will look at the stats and try to figure out why X number of voters felt they weren't being represented.

When someone worthy, or at least someone that appears to be worthy, comes along way more people will go and vote. Look at Obama for example, way more people voted.

As for voicing my displeasure by declining my ballot let's be realistic, that won't do anything to sway PC's plans if they win.

If a good chunk of people vote for a party, the other parties might try to appease to those people in the next election. Voting for a party says which way I want policies to go. Declining my ballot could mean I want a fascist policy or a communist policy. Who knows.

I'm not a fan of the liberals but I'm even less a fan of Hudak. Good riddance to him. Wish the voting system was different, so votes were proportional and you could vote separately for each level of government.

Etobicoke-Lakeshore will has been PC strong is going liberal from the looks of it.

Knives might be out for Horvath too. My riding went from red to orange, which means we'll be on the outside looking in for the next while.

If liberals win, Ontario deserved to be f***ed. I just hope libs will get a majority so we will die a quicker death.

Did he ever. He lost a lot of seats to Wynne to give the Libs their majority. I expect him to announce his resignation tonight.

Was poor voter turnout the cause of this? Most people i talked to lately were fed up with the liberals.Maybe if they had got off their butts and gone to the polls things would be different.I talked to 3 young people today that didn't even know how or where to vote.Pathetic! I'm guessing the turnout to be about 40% or less.

Pleased to report that the PC incumbent in my riding of Oshawa has been tossed in favour of the NDP candidate by a large margin.
