Pickup Trucks

At least you got a new bike recently.
You know... Priorities
LOL I think the tractor will get more mileage cutting the grass.
A pickup would be a nice to have, not a must have. We'll do fine with the vehicles we have easily for the next few years.
If the wife decides to quit working and I'm able to move the business, then we can go down to one vehicle.
The Maverick looks to be a nice little truck that would be useful and practical, so that is on my watch list for 2025 and beyond.

Just need a pick up he says…….small piece of property and don’t need a trailer……….

Well, plan for your mind to change down the road is all I’ll say……..

Don't need a full size truck for plywood. I've put my Canyon through the paces over the last 6 years and I've rarely wanted for more space in the bed.

That being said if I had the room in Toronto to store a 6 x 10 trailer, I'd give serious thought to a car. But then again most cars that can tow a trailer with a decent load use every bit as much gas as my Canyon, and I've stopped to grab any number of things from the side of the road or last-minute Kijiji finds over the years that I wouldn't have been able to with a trailer sitting at home.

Of course plans can change, thanks for the obvious. How, when and why will be the questions..
Actually a trailer may be in the cards for the future but for the tractor, I remember seeing a small utility trailer posted somewhere and I think it was made by PA I'm going to look into that..

Update, something like this:

Just playing Jampy. Sounds like you are on the right path already.

Saw the other thread regarding tractors after posting this and had a chuckle.

As long as you have a decent dealer nearby, it’s half the battle.

No, I hate you and we can never be friends... Just kidding!
I had a chuckle at your post as you are 100% correct, my plans are changing.
While I would have liked to shop around more, I have a dealer 6 minutes from where the property is so I felt that was VERY important and they treated me fairly so I took the plunge. Buying new the tractor and implements (while expected) were pretty expensive, so that pushed any other large purchases back as I still have some work to do to get the property to where I want it. Like most, I want to do everything at once, but I have to calm down and plan accordingly.. Wife says so...

I haven't checked but I'm sure there is no shortage of these utility trailers on the used market.

Even new they are reasonable. The one I posted above is $350.00 new from Home Depot..
But I will check the used market for sure when I'm ready.

You are free to use my 4 by 8 trailer if needed. 2 inch ball mount. Lights and sideboards and even ramps.

Many Thanks. I figure I'll just need something to haul around some dirt, gravel, compost etc. that is why I was considering a dumping trailer.
While I'd love a front bucket for the tractor, I'm holding off for now until we're settled in and see what the cost of living is like and all that..

The bed extender is the best thing I have purchased for my Ranger. It has already come in handy a few times in just the last couple of months, most recently taking a 32' extension ladder to my sons house in Hamilton.

After waiting nearly 8 months my Maverick finally arrived.
Is it a heavy duty truck ? No, but it will carry 500 lbs in the bed, has a 2,000 lb towing capacity (200 lbs tongue weight), and with the tail gate down I could probably carry a cow in it if I had to.
AWD with a 2.0 litre turbo is plenty of jam for me, plus it seems pretty easy on fuel so far.
I'd guess that for 90% of private owners it is more than enough.

Wow what a difference from my mom's old 1972 maverick 2 door, had a 302 with buckets and floor shifter, fun car. have fun with the new Maverick

Even for me, grass cutting will be the biggest aspect of "farming" I do plan on working the two garden we have and see what I can grow, but I'm not counting on massive harvests of anything except weeds...

Look into this as I do not know the exact details and fine print.

I was sold by a friend who also has a large rural property in Sunderland, that for tax purposes, your property can be considered a "farm" if you have $5000 (maybe $7000) of annual sales from said farm.

All you need is a dozen chickens and a chicken coop. $5 a dozen eggs.
