Ontario is no longer the place to prosper

Exactly and the cons are on track to give them another term with Patrick brown as the leader. I wish someone would offer a viable choice soon.

In all fairness I was at first VERY anti Peewee Herman, sorry I mean Patrick Brown but he has SAID a few things lately that may change my mind. He has spoken out against homophobia and he has also said that he will not just cut taxes for the sake of cutting taxes. These are too big statements since the Conservatives have spent a very long time only offering Bigotry and Supply Side Economics as the solution to all the worlds problems.

Now words are one thing, he was put in as leader mainly by the support of the Christian Lifers and Bigots, so now he is going against them? He says homophobia is wrong, but he has not kicked the homophobes like McNaugton out of the party? So words say one thing, actions so far are another... but we will see. My concern is he just says whatever he thinks people want to hear.

He needs to be seen out in public a little more

One thing I will say is that he is very pro healthcare. When I was stationed at Borden a few of us used to volunteer for Hockey Night in Barrie. That was pretty much driven by Brown and during my time we raised a over a million bucks for the Royal Victoria Hospital. He seems in favour preventative medicine through adequate staff and services. I would vote for him based on that alone and I'm an NDP'er

He does have the Peewee Herman thing going on though.

no worries, china gonna save us

Gravelle also said that having a new Liberal government in Ottawa could be a positive development for the Ring of Fire. Ontario asked the federal government to match its $1-billion commitment to the Ring last year, but the Conservatives were reluctant to do so as they wanted some structural issues in the Ring to get resolved first.

everything gonna change when PET jr kicks in,

heard over the radio he gonna be the first PM to do gay pride day,

1st few days in heard the stupid expanding get your own mail (where dogs luv to piss) & seniors love the exercise (sure, great in winter ..ffs) bs was over

The head of Canada Post says seniors have told the corporation they want more exercise and fresh air in answer to an MP's question about how the elderly will be especially hard hit by the cancellation of home mail delivery.

Expect gas to rise 4.3 cents per litre, natural gas $5 per month according to them. Probably will end up more.

I fail to see how this is Cap and Trade.

With Cap and Trade the government "caps" the amount of carbon emissions allowed. A company (or potentially an individual) will then get a permit specifying their carbon footprint. If a company wants to burn more than its share of carbon, it buys extra permits from other companies that have burned less. The "cap" can be reduced on a year by year basis.

What Wynne is implementing is actually a Carbon Tax. There is no "caps" with this model. Its pollution as usual in this model as long as you pay for it, and its taxed from gram 1 of carbon burnt

Such BS. Why can't people see through this. Why doesn't she call a spade a spade.

A tax by any other name......

Clearly its a carbon tax. A number of states in the US (and I believe Quebec) have actual cap and trade.

In reality it punishes the polluters as once they reach their cap it starts costing money. They can either begin to clean up their act which is the governments preferred approach, or they can buy extra credits from green company.

Companies that are already clean, are rewarded as they can sell their credits. They are further rewarded as they get preferred status when tendering for state or federal contracts.

Its a win, win. Companies are encouraged to reduce in order to remain competitive

I can't think that burdening some 80 year old Ontario pensioner living on a fixed income with an additional $150 charge a year on their heating costs will necessarily achieve the same thing. To some people on a fixed income, that could be life and death. Do they buy food and freeze to death, or do they starve in comfort.

Cheaper products and good quality. What's the problem(?) is what I learned on this forum. Somebody needs to goose step in.

God how I hate that woman.

Ontario contributes something like 0.37% of global GHG emissions. In other words, if we all disappeared completely and our output fell to zero global levels of emissions would fall to 99.63% of what they are now. Her over the top rhetoric about the "cost of doing nothing is much, much higher than the cost of going forward and reducing greenhouse-gas emissions" is such a bunch of theatrical, over-the-top scare-the-dummies ****. Ontario is but a rounding error on the global GHG stage.

If she really wanted to reduce GHGs -- because of course, the "cost of doing nothing is much, much higher than the cost of going forward and reducing greenhouse-gas emissions" -- she would immediately require the removal of catalytic converters from cars. After all, CO is no a GHG whereas CO2 is; since catalytics convert CO into CO2, they contribute to global warming. Instead, Wynne continues the Driveclean scam and has now even promised that the government will pay for Driveclean tests, another $60-million addition to the deficit. (Speaking of deficits, she's promised kids of families making less than $50,000 annually free tuition for post-secondary education. How the **** will that be paid for? From the general revenues generated by the carbon tax, no doubt...)

This is clearly a cash-grab by a spend-happy government that's almost out of assets to liquidate and a $308-billion dollar debt and a $5-billion deficit. She can use all the scary-sounding "global warming" rhetoric and theatrics she wants but the numbers speak for themselves: Her "initiatives" will do nothing to affect the climate in any way, shape or form. If there is a reduction in GHG emissions it will be because of shuttered manufacturing plants and people having moved out of the province.

So ****** at the Cons for fielding that turd Hudak against this harpy.

Always the same 5/6 guys going from thread to thread with endless useless facts and arguments. This forum used to b good for ***** and giggles but now is just damn boring and stupid. You are all right... always. There. Feel better?

While I get the sentiments behind the new budget, its a feel good for sure. Here I am stuck in the middle getting screwed. I had to pay for my kids college and still would have under the new protocols, looking after yourselves and your own in Ontario is not the new normal.
The booze/smokes grab I don't care about, the 4.3c gas will just get wasted on some "consulting engineering company" that will prepare 5 million dollar reports.

You think you have no idea who will pay for this crap? sadly neither does you MP.

My MP was just on a trade mission to India, had her picture in the local paper with Wynn at the TajMahal and Gandis tomb. Didn't see them at a factory, bank or call center. Hope they had fun, again on my f'ing dime. Other peoples money, its a great program.

I'm actually a bit of a closet tree hugger. There I said it. And I could get 100% behind cap and trade. As you rightly state this is not cap and trade. Its a new tax

It's really saying something that the debate leader among everybody on stage is the sometimes ill informed non-politician. Everybody on stage is a career politician except the guy leading the polls. These debates are essentially a job interview. What potential CEO knows all the inner workings and buzzwords of the company he's interviewing for? Sure, the other guys get pre-drilled by a team of advisors and still falling short. Much ado about nothing.

I did.

I took these pictures of my Wednesday morning commute for my sister as she was getting hammered with snow in Toronto

Thumbs up your *** Kathleen. Thumbs up your ***

True-Dough is marching in the Pride parade while brokering the sales of sniper rifles (and other small arms) to Saudia Arabia. A country that would imprison (or worse) the participants of the parade just for being who they are. Sure the Harper conservatives started it, but TD finished it. Wonder how Kathleen feels about that? Maybe it doesn't matter when they're not Canadian or a refugee photo-op?

As far as opportunities go, start buying bank shares. The projected annual interest payments on our bloated debt is expected to hit $13 billion by 2018-19. Incredible. Hard to believe nobody's in prison over what could be charitably described as gross negligence and incompetence on a provincial scale.
