North American International Motorcycle Supershow - Jan 3-5, 2025

The Schuberth rep is at the Riders Choice booth and that's who I was speaking with.

He said the E2 is pretty much the same as the C5 with an additional beak, which can be taken off.
I asked how much noisier is the E2 over the C5 and "according to the engineers, it's not noticeable by a human".

They also have both helmets in the new carbon design but at a higher costs.

The pricing I gave ($1055 OTD) is for solid color model.

I wish there was a way to try on a helmet in a wind tunnel.
I wish they would bring the different size inserts to be able to custom fit a Schuberth helmet at the show. It's their selling feature.

Agreed.

I got my head measured and it on the top end of small. Apparently I should be wearing a small.

I tried a small on and it felt too tight.
Maybe if I put in slightly thinner foam inserts into the small shell it would fit better. Or if I put slightly thicker inserts into the medium it would also feel better. Not that I am complaining a out the medium fit.

But yes, it seems like they don't out much effort I to a the selling feature of the product.

My experience last year was the same. They have fewer shell sizes so rely on different inserts. I'm between a large and extra large C5. I was there to purchase. I didn't.

How so?
Why is this year bad or why was last year better?
I entered through into hall 1 and was pleased with the variety of vintage bikes. There was 1 or 2 CVMG section, the Ontario Norton Owners, a collection of Zundapp dirt bikes and some other stuff.

I thought, "If the rest of the show is as good as this it's definitely recovering." Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

It seemed there were more non-motorcycle related booths than ever before. Cheap massages, shoe shines, meat and other food, squeegees, jewelry, and on and on.

Not much in the way of non-harley bikes, no euro, only a handful of Yamahas and Hondas.

EDIT: There was a large display of Ducati from Ducati Toronto.

Riders Choice had a large display and I was able to get a new Shoei for a really good price, so my admission was worthwhile but otherwise it wasn't a great show.

Seven of us met up (All KLR riders with the exception of one turncoat who swapped his for a T7). Then we ran into a rally buddy and his friend. With a herd of 7-9 we ended up taking about 5hours to get through.
Didn't see boots I wanted and I knew I was not likely to buy a new lid there.
More HD than I needed but saw lots of bikes then went for beers and chatted about next summer's bike trip.
A near perfect day.

EDIT: "near perfect" when you can't ride or sled

dont suppose anyones seen the newer bell lithium helmet around the show? havent been able to see it at any online retailers in canada at least. its basically the replacement for the budget bell qualifier helmet.

Went to the show today with my two sons. The rep measured my head and said I should be in a small as well, but when I put it on it was clearly not a fit - the helmet sat too high on my head for my ears to fit in the recesses or the lid to close properly.

He also did mention the different inserts. I feel pretty confident that the difference in fit me with the small would not be surmountable with a thinner insert, and for most of us I think we'd need extended wear time before we could know just what insert we needed.

I ended up holding my nose and buying the C5 there - I figured I was buying from the rep and not Rider's Choice. Decided not to go for the E2. The internal visor will accomplish 99.9% of what I would get from the peak , and I'm not taking any chances wind noise will be the same with the E2.

I just wish I could see my way to paying the $450 for the comms, although I've seen some mixed reviews for the SC2.

As for the show - I was pleasantly surprised given negative reviews I'd seen on FB. I had nice talks with a guy at the Vmax club display, with a guy with the model bikes, with Paul @ Ducati Toronto and a few others. Stopped by the GTAM booth but nobody was there. This is maybe the 3rd time I've stopped by the GTAM booth at shows over the years and never seen anyone there. Hoped to see more options for apparel as I was looking for a touring jacket.

My kids were already getting antsy after about 2-h, but that changed after seeing the freestyle show. And no motorcycle show is complete without buying some salami - bought bison and venison.

100%

The peak on ADV helmets are useless and ornamental. They catch the wind and aren't long enough to stop roost from the bike in front of you when you tilt your head down, like a real MX helmet does.

And if you're getting an ADV helmet because you believe the peak will help block the sun, just put some black tape on the top portion of your visor instead, where the peak would be in your line of sight.

The peak is fixed. Just like that piece of black tape at the top of your visor...

And that black tape on the visor won't catch the wind and make the helmet more noisy.

The model bikes were really neat!

Sorry we missed you again. There is always at least one person manning the booth, but we are manning both GTAM and the Sharp Rider booth that's right beside it.

Redneck is always in the yellow Instructor shirt and Cutekill wears an FXR sweater that is monogrammed with gtam site address.

On the way home yesterday two buddies were discussing the Arai XT4 (??) that they both have and how great the peak was for blocking sun and roost. Also that peak vents so it doesn't catch air.
Two sides to every story.

I'm sorry I missed you again too. I saw the Sharp Rider booth, I figured you were both connected since I think the canopies had both names on it, but didn't see anyone there either.

I wanted to thank GTAM in person for putting together such a great community. Well, thank you!

Maybe a picture will help.

This is your view from behind the visor. The peak is in a fixed position in your field of view:

The peak never moves. In order to block the sun, you have to turn your head and the entire helmet to move the peak in a position between your eyes and the sun.

A piece of black tape along the top of the visor will do exactly the same thing. When you move your head, that piece of black tape will block out the sun.

Exactly like a peak. But it won't catch the air at speed or make the helmet noisier...

If you want exactly the same sun blockage as a peak, all you have to do is shape the tape like this:

ok just came back from the show. The Wall of Death was pretty sweet!
Saw it on TV. I am always amazed on there stunts. Event the metal ball/cage where 4 or 5 riders try to kill themselves. It's impressive.

Thanks to all of you that stopped by to say hi. We love seeing everyone and it really helps make a 3 day long show go by much faster.
