I actually broke down and bought 2 carbon road bikes this year. Well, one is carbon rear, seat tube, and fork, and the other is carbon seat stays+fork, but I've still come over to the dark side, if only a little.

Came home Wednesday to a box postmarked from Holland wedged in my half open screen door with one of these in it, too.

Carbon is nice. I admit I'm a junkie for it. Had one of these on a former bike. Mega comfortable

Are "Specialize" bikes any good? or just Kona and Devinci?

I may be looking for something in the $1000 - 1500 range. Havent decided if I want to ditch my 20 year old Miele yet.

Giant will give you better components $ for $.

I start sharpening the knives when I read that in an ad for something I'm interested in.

Banshees are ok. Bit heavy. Beefed up Kona rip-offs built by a company in Van. I'd assume they're sourcing offshore now. The early ones had problems snapping chain stays and around the BB shells, but they sorted that out. IIRC the guy's dropped his (firm) asking price once already.
