Motorcycle show

Come on guys these threads are the same year after year. Just go walk around for a couple hours. It's fun. Saw some awesome customized bikes. Seems like every other booth had at least one bmw 1000rr with some form of modifications.
I agree not much selection of oil/lubricants. Was hoping to get some Motul synthetic at a decent price but all I saw was semi synthetic.

I got a braided rear Spiegler line for my zx6r (saved the tax at blue streak)
And dropped off my stock steering damper at Speedworx for a new valve and re-build. - They had some real nice parts on their bikes....I guess when you're an Ohlins, and Braking dealer that helps.
Was drooling over the helmets at GP bikes. Man I wish I could justify $1,000 on a helmet right now. Overall, glad I went.

+1

It's also a great time to meet up with buddies that I don't see for half the year because we don't chill outside of riding lol

didn't see that many deals.

Finally pulled the trigger on my matte black RPHA 10's as I didn't see any other helmet to my liking, except the AGV Corsa. But that's like triple the amount of the RPHA 10.

The "deals" that they speak of are usually the deals they have going all year long that just never end. I went to buy a new one piece suit, but aside from the 20% discount from GPBikes (the suits ALWAYS have a 20% discount every time I go to the store) the seller wasn't budging any further. In the store I can bring the floor manager over and haggle another 15% off usually.

Still good seeing a lot of the regulars at their booths.

Did anyone notice if there were any deals on the new go pro ? Or good tire prices?

Best buy had killer deals on the new go pro. Moto shops would not be the best place to buy them... they simply don't move enough volume to get better pricing...

I went yesterday and had an ok time, but I dont shop at flea markets or value village so not finding premium jackets or old packaged brake fluid for a buck a bottle didnt affect my day.

I would like to make services available for coaching vendors and sales people on how to actually work a show, present themselves and the product/service/charity they represent. The investment in time and time is money is just lost on a lot of these people. Booth layout and display isnt as easy as throwing up a 10x10 popup and a card table and wondering after the show why your return on investment isnt there.

The Ducati Club of Canada should get special recognition for an enormous piece of prime real estate with no display (a track bike and one other under a cover? ), a sad pop out sign and no one representing. An unmanned booth at a major event? You cant fire volunteers, but you should.

i went yesterday morning. nothing that stood out, really. as far as deals go, anyway. as for the bikes, over priced private sellers.

the show bikes were pretty cool though. but nothing i couldn't have done through google images.

there was this one bike that kept on playing miley cyrus near entrance 5. that thing was friggin annoying.

I thought the Suomy Vandal helmets (6-7 designs) for $99 was a steal as a passenger helmet. If she doesn't fit into an xs, she ain't riding on the back of mine. :D
Only XS and XXL sizing though..

Oh, the full carbon Kaos helmets (gloss and matte) were on sale for $229 at GP bikes... pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Lowest I've seen was $275 @ honda Milton.

I tried one on, tight fit. But they are LIGHT. Felt like I was wearing a baseball cap.

Will be heading down in a few hours.. I look at it as a chance to look at some bikes that I might be interested in down the road as well as trying on some helmets, jackets and gloves etc to get the correct sizing and just look for better prices online .

Best buy had decent deals for boxing day but they were all sold out by the time I noticed. Haven't seen much since.

The thing is if your looking to have a deal on fluid and stuff you need to have a good relationship with a shop. The place where I got my bike I brought him some business. Just for that I got a free 300v oil change and brake fluid flush.

You want deals? have a good relationship with a small . non cut throat price shop.

Gear? Has anyone tried Regear consignment store?

I don't get the high expectation for these shows some people have. Like how exciting do you people really expect it to be?

Ever been to a proper European show? Or even one in the states? Half of that would be good.

Give it 10 years. Then let's see if you say pass to at least a few.

20 beans is a lot to pay to see a lot of stuff you've seen in previous years.

Obviously I'm not gonna go 10 years in a row. I've been riding 5 years and I've only gone twice. But for $20 what do you expect? To save $100 off every jacket known to man and have Motogp stars signing autographs? It's a show where most bike brands show their new bikes and retailers to show off product.

Jesus christ some people only exist to complain. Don't like it? Don't go. End of story.

Many people go to see the auto show with no intention of buying and no regrets of visiting... sheesh.

Also, how many owners will let anyone sit on their Ducati and fiddle with everything? That's right.. none.

Went last year, got some good deals on gear because I bought a lot gearing up for first season.

Its a good place I think for the casual rider, a lot of people on here are more than that. Won't go this year because I dont need anything and if I want to look at new models or whatever just wait til they show up at a dealership or somewhere.

have tried these on as well. very light and the matte carbon looks amazing, but i wouldn't get them. there's alot of space at the back neck area. would be very loud when actually riding.
