MotoGP 2015

that was more of a wish than a prediction :)

And I doubt Rossi planned to and predicted for Lorenzo to fall. That was quite the gamble in which he seems to be really upset about.

Whoever the champ will be, it will be well deserved. Quite the nail biter! But it's looking more and more likely that Rossi will win his tenth this year.

His strategy IMO was quite clever, he knew he didn't have Lorenzo's pace on slicks, so he stayed out as long as he could in order to continue to get away from Lorenzo tents of seconds at the time so he had a good advantage for when he went back to slicks.... remember he only cares about Lorenzo, everyone else does not matter.

His strategy also obligated Lorenzo to try and make up that time with a real quick first lap on slicks with a still damp track and you saw what happened.

You could see VR look at the screens, times etc while riding on the rain tires during those final laps, calculated.

I disagree.

Lorenzo made a mistake which was lucky for Rossi. Rossi was faster on the rain tires but for those two laps Lorenzo should have been about 8 seconds faster.

I really can't figure out why Rossi stayed out so long. His pit board should have told him that his pace was significantly slower than riders on slicks and some quick math should have convinced him to switch bikes ASAP.

Rossi is no Rubens Barichello when it comes to making the call on tires it would seem... but that was still a good result. Lucky as hell, though.

Agreed.

Rossi was VERY lucky that Lorenzo crashed. Had he not, Lorenzo would have easily been ahead of Rossi.

just throwing this out there, at the level they are playing there are no radios, its all on the rider to make a call to go in or stay out. I'm thinking the years of experience Rossi has gave him a "golf game" strategy and he was staying out to get into the other guys heads. They would push way to hard to play catchup.
You don't plan a crash, but I think him staying out and making them wonder what he's doing put them off the game.

Rossi is a bright light

Dani pedrosa missed his outboard 4 times telling him to pit

Crazy how rain tires self-disintegrate in the dry.

What a show. Guy above is right, F1 should be taking notes.

F1 has new rules this year about the type of communications allowed between the cars and the wall... they can't tell them anything now... still probably some coded messages in there

I never said he planned for Lorenzo to fall, I said he wanted to stay out with Lorenzo on rain tires because he was faster and could take an advantage before moving back to slicks.

I disagree.

So you disagree with my Theory of why he stayed out so long but yet don't have a theory of your own?

It's like saying "you are wrong but I just don't know why".

Lorenzo wasn't going to be out for two laps while Rossi was on Rains, Rossi came in right away as soon as Lorenzo went in, so It was basically one lap and if Lorenzo hadn't crashed Valentino would have come out ahead of Lorenzo from pits due to the 2 seconds he was able to get ahead while on rains (unless his team ****ed up his pit time kind of like in F1)

It's all mind games at this point. Like ZX said, Rossi needs to be ahead of Lorenzo, and the championship is his. (So long as they continue to finish races).

what about the 6-8 seconds lorenzo would have gained on his dry tires? Rossi was not 10+ seconds ahead of Lorenzo. Lorenzo would have been in front.

Look at a picture of the the track, pit entry and pit exit and do the math, while lorenzo pitted and came out Rossi would have been more than half track done and close (not that close) to entering the pits.
Remember that the track was still damp, so riders (as per what MM said on his post conference) weren't coming out to full pace out of the pits, they were coming to the same pace they had on rains until they figure how the track felt, so that you know, they didn't crash like Lorenzo did :)

All that you mentioned was going to be an issue for Rossi too when he were to pit in. I still don't see how it was in Rossi's best interest to stay out. Anyway, we'll never know.

Jorge crashed at turn 15. Rossi just changed onto his other bike and was leaving the pits. I think they would've been really close together or Jorge ahead had he not crashed.

Agreed, this is why Lorenzo was pushing, so he could end up ahead of Valentino as he exited the pits and not 2 seconds behind, which IMO is why Valentino stayed out so late, so he could have a buffer and exit the pit before Lorenzo was able to complete the lap, but meh, who knows.

I like this theory, but that's a lot of calculation to be done in ones head while they are running around at race pace! I guess that's what sets these guys apart

IMO VR calculated his lead in the wet to build a 'buffer' when he would switch back to the slicks. He knew it would've of been close for JL (either just I front or just behind) but he'd be close enough to fight back at JL. He probably didn't care much for what MM would do, only hope that he stayed in front of JL or battle with him. He also knew JL was very strong this weekend and needed all the gap he could get.
Sometimes it's not about getting on the podium (although it would've been sweet) when it's this close in the championship with 5 races left. I think VR made a good choice and didn't risk too much.
Great job by BS, taking a huge risk but paid a great reward! And for SR, who didn't give up after his crash and just kept at it.

As for the JL hate, I like him he's a great rider and so smooth to watch (it's incredible really!) IMO he suffers a lot from his own 'mental' thoughts and needs everything near 'perfect' on his side for him to feel strong. He's probably a 'perfectionist' and blaming 'outside' interferences is easier for him to accept then his own faults. I can understand this as I too am this way. Now, he may not be that way in real life but it's what I perceive from his interviews and things he shares on social media (lots of inspirational quotes...)

I'm just excited that the championship fight is close this year and as much as I like JL I adore VR more ;)

I'll be happy with whomever wins but honestly more so if 46 adds his 10th :)

On a side note, I wish Cal was on the podium instead of Redding, IMO he deserves it more. Ah well
