More Mosport new track spy shots (WHOLE LAYOUT)

I almost crashed exiting Moss last year. Got it on film. When I watch it, I look to the left and wonder just how far it would have thrown me.

I like haybales.

<GTAM style comment> Everybody says hay bales but they're straw bales. Hay bales would be about as effective as cinder blocks. </GTAM style comment> ;)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen a crash at the top of turn 2 and seen the rider plow through 4 rows of bales. Definitely better than tumbling down the hill at 200km/h, especially now that it's paved out to the wall.

Really?????l,, we did back in the day and it was INSANE!Now that's it safer,,,,it's still INSANE! This is no slow track. I think it's the fastest in North America.
I can take my F250 with 80 PSI in the tires through corner 5,,,,the slowest corner on the track at 100KPH,,easy. Now for those that have crashed there,,
,, ,,, you just don't want to even think of doing Mosport with out bales or more! Nobody that knows Mosport would consider it. But Mosport will never let it happen anyway. THANK GOD!

+2.......I had an off between 2 and 3 this season, hit the bails between 3 and 4 and rested on the tires lightly. I don't want to imagine the outcome without them!!!!!!!! I did bogie 2weeks later and couldn't stop thinking about the "what if it was here?" with no protection from the tires and rock walls........messed up my whole weekend there (a broken bike didn't help either lol) at least I had a loaner bike for part of day 2 ;) In all honesty I would prefer them at all tracks where runoff is limited....just my opinion.

I have crashed Mosport four times over the years 2,3,5,10 all four times hit a wall. While bales suck (they still hurt) they are better than walls. I have possibly a different look and critical eye at tracks because of my race back ground and now the guy running races and paying the bills.
Mosport last numbers I had (changes everytime they pave runoffs) was 2000-2500 @ $4/bale extra charge for busted ones. When talking about the old track it needs some consideration because of its age and where it comes from. When I first raced there in the 80s it was armco almost all the way around with walls 3ft off the surface in some corners. So its come along way but recently backwards.
I have to say I raced there this summer with VRRA one week after the fatality and was more than a little concerned when my ZX7 stepped out in T8. I started the weekend highsiding at the flag station in T2 on a 600. Bike slid on its side all the way to the wall at bottom on its side. That must be 1/8 mile!!!!!! The paved runoff hardly slowed it down. Didnt help that the cases open up and coated the bike in oil. Left a stripe all the way from track edge to the wall. The Mosport "safety" crew didnt even clean it up as it was off the race surface, not allowing for bikes that may run wide and try to save it?
I am not sure that modern Mosport is suitable for todays speeds on bikes and paved runoff isnt helping. Now the new track .......thats just a nightmare and I dont think anyone will ever race there. I suspect that the management is now seeing the error of their ways. Once again try and put the genie back in the bottle. The only positive comments I have heard if from Pro6. Every org I have spoken with regarding DDT is out both for safety as well as cost.
We all have our limits and I know what mine are and respect others hell people run Macau an IOM every year, I wouldnt but many feel its acceptable. I just wish a track that had the opportunity to do something right the first time, would? Baffles me I dont know if its ignorance or contempt but it is certainly sad.
Here are a series of shots of yours truely "testing the bales in T10" a bunch of years ago. Just missed the airfence by this much :D

You know, you need to stop crashing ... or find another hobby ;)

DOH! Nice Friday typo. At least I could have said something interesting like, "Looks like a lot of bun to me!".

I'm in the same boat as a lot of others. I want to see it before I commit to a track day.

It is 30 min from my house, I am planning to use it as a "Bike setup" day, work on the Bazzaz map with the new exhaust, TC and QS settings and all that crap i need to get sort out. So it is a no brainer for me to attend the first days in there. We all just have to take it easy until we understand the track and layout.

I drove by there a week or so ago, it looks like they're putting up a new building to service this track.

Perfect! The guinea pig. LOL

Looks to have an honest to goodness actual pit lane. Pit in and pit out look well configured too, assuming the thing runs clockwise. From the map looks like a fun layout!

Riders Choice will be first up on Wednesday May 14th. Already signed up for that one.

On another note, is it just me or does that track layout look like a used condom?
lol
