correct me if im wrong but any other top 6 forward in the league is would be receiving that type of pay? or at least close to that?

the guy is worth it especially when u look at what they pay the other deadbeats for doing nothing.. Tim Connolly he's making 5.5 this year for WHAT?????
John Michael Liles resigned for 3.5 a year
JEFF FINGER 3.5 IN the MINORS doesn't even play.
Lombardi 3.5 for taking a skate every night WTF??

Phaneuf 6.5 to appear brooding when asked questions... maybe he should try answering one without a single cliche...

n the list goesss onnnn..

When are people in Toronto going to wake up and realise that the Leafs aren't about winning games, they're about merchandizing?

I realized this years ago... a true leaf fan (someone that wants the team to do well) will NOT wear or display any leaf paraphernalia. I refuse to throw money at an organization that is doing less than nothing to get results. If all the leaf fans were the type that would only support a winning team, you'd never see the Stanley Cup leave Toronto!

The reality is, they get paid what they're worth to the team. You could certainly get guys and pay them less, but they won't perform any better.

This kid's whole family took off on Monday to watch him sign an NHL contract, sometime this week. (no word with who, yet)
He's got over a dozen teams who have presented contracts, including the Leafs (who are his personal first choice), and Calgary has been after him for quite some time too.
I was his baseball coach yrs ago, and he excelled at that too.
My kids are friends with Spencer & his brothers.
Remember the name, and let's hope a Steeltown kid makes it to the "bigs".

I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised to see him playing a few for the Leafs by the end of the season. Good for him. :-)

Similarities between Harleys and the Leafs?

That's a whole new thread by itself in TT

Remember the Leafs are notorious at ruining players ....so hopefully his career will take off once he gets out of this joke of a organization. Glad my negativity brought something positive.

When are people in Toronto going to wake up and realise that the Leafs aren't about winning games, they're about merchandizing?

I landed in Canada July 2002. By the end of 2003 I'd realised that. And I don't even like or watch hockey.

I'm a Flames fan, so I can't exactly throw stones at the Leafs. The Flames have a shot, but like Toronto they're a perennial just-miss-the-playoffs team.

I don't think they have a big, strong, tough, lunchpail team like the Anaheim team Carlyle used to coach and would thrive with. I think there's a lot more depth than their used to be, but it's not like there's a potential #1 goalie or first-line center with the Marlies.

I do think the system has improved since JFJ left town. Dallas Eakins seems like he's good at developing young players and the Marlies are fun to watch. (I go to seen them on occasion - it's even cheaper to watch than junior hockey and Smoke's Poutinerie is on site.)

I think so much of it is BB's love with the media and Toronto's media obsession with the Leafs, compounded with the Marlies being in the same town. BB and co shouldn't be talking a big game about Kadri, D'Amigo, Scrivens and Gardiner - he should just let them be and let them learn from their mistakes playing in the AHL. They're 20-25 year old prospects. It would be better for them if the Leaf's farm team were still in St. John's and the young players were working on their game and doing their thing.

As far as Grabovski goes, better that he earns $5.5 than Connolly. He's an important piece, and the Leafs have to keep him around. Sometimes that just leads to overpayment. It's not an awful contract like Horcoff's, Gomez', Redden's or Souray's old one with the Oilers.

Here's another way to look at it considering it's 2012. Either the world will end this year and put Leaf fans out of there misery for good OR the world can't end until the Leafs win a Stanley Cup ... that give's my son a fighting chance to live to a ripe old age ... he's 10 right now.:D
