I love the leafs but after the whole salary cap and going on strike a couple of years back it just turned me off of hockey. I did catch a couple of days but now there's so many new guys i don't even know who they are.

went to a game in december sat 2nd row...good seats..didnt know who the hell the players were...surrounded by suits and their escorts too btw..

Who knew when they made those This is your your brain showing LEAFS and this is your brain on drugs HABS that some of their players would take that to heart.

All aboard!!!!!!!!!!! The titanic otherwise knows as the HABS is leaving the rink all aboard to miss the playoffs! Oh sorry HABS already filled the ship!

2 points seperate 6th from 9th do you honestly believe thats its not possible for the other teams to push your beloved HABS out? Hey i hope all Canadian teams make it in including my Leafs.
I am a true fan not a jump off the band wagon fan i have tat on my arm to prove it and i am in for the long hall.
Just makes it a little bit bettre when the HABS miss as well when you consider that this was a rebuilding season for the leafs from the get go but being the 100th year for HABS they are not cup worthy right now.

SO shout what you will we are rebuilding and were not and are not expected to to make the playoffs this year was that also the HABS plan as well?
We are far better in the standing then anyone thought and hey you have to start at the bottm to move to the top ask any Ottawa fan how many years they finished brutal and all the #1 draft picks they got and look at them one year removed from the finals and they are 6 points lower then the Leafs.

I just checked with my coffey and it agree's that this tread is useless without John Tavares or Victor hedman mon however the hell you say his name.

Go Nordiques Go!

Jack-*** Sens fan here. And we're still around, it's just the rivalry that's dead ... At this point in the season, it's benefitial to be behind the leafs in the standings; 10th place year-after-year gets you a whole team full of Pogges and Schenns, hardly a recipe for a Stanley Cup!

Yeah, better to teach your team how to lose..ingrain that sense of worthlessness!!

Seriously though, it really surprises me how quickly the Sens went bad. Same with the Lightning. It's a fine line between success and failure, isn't it?

Well the Sens don't have depth past their first line, and I can't remember them ever having a true starting goalie except with grber but he didn't play well for them and thats no secret. They always have pretty good defense but you still need a starting goalie or it's all worth nothing. Picking up Pascal Leclaire will IMO turn their season around assuming he comes back strong and healthy playing like he did before Mason took over in Columbus. Leclaire is a genuine starting goalie that many teams needed and I think the Sens got lucky by grabbing him.

On the topic of goalies though, Montreal could really use some help right now with Hallak sick and Price playing poorly. Montreal was supposed to go deep this year, they have a good team and they just can't pull it together it seems. I said last year when the coach and GM were arguing about brining up Price they should leave him in the AHL and play Hallak as their #1 and I still stand by that, Price is going to be like Fleury IMO and not be what he could have been if he developed properly as a young professional in the AHL before coming and battling in the NHL. Fleury will never live up to what he could have been because he struggled hard to find confidence after coming up from bombing the world juniors and then having two loosing seasons in the NHL, where Price had all the confidence but plenty of uncertainty because it was well known his coach didn't think he was ready and he just developed too fast and won't ever be as good as he could have.

And the Sens recipe has been any better? lol They choke more then a cheap hooker.

montreal was plagued with issues to but the difference is that when the habs are weak they build on top of what they have....they dont rebuild from the ground up every year...ive lived in toronto for most of my life and love hockey but its just ridiculous that you pay 400 a ticket for good seats to watch a bunch of no names lol other citys dont do this?? its toronto fan's that can be blamed for the crappy team lol

and as for the Goaltender situation with montreal i agree with Chris 100% lol

but as a true habs fan....toronto will never be anything more than a stepping stone for other teams :P (no offense to anyone except leaf management)

Alsooo montreal is in 5th not 6th lol but 2 points still separate it lol

Well, I think it's corporate Toronto that keeps the Leafs in money. I suppose the fans do contribute as well because they pay for what's leftover at ridiculously high prices. I think it's kinda funny when people criticize the Leafs for raising prices. Why wouldn't you?? You know they're gonna sell-out regardless of the price! I'd keep raising the price too. It'll never change until people stop going to games.

I heard there were pics floating around of Price partying pretty heavily during the season. I mean, I know that used to be the culture, but I would think their #1 goalie would have a little more professionalism. Also, it's interesting that the Kostitsyn's are having problems with organized crime members and that Kovalev called them out for being lazy and unprofessional. I guess we know why Grabovski has a problem with them..

And yeah, a lot of Ottawa's top guys are still there but they've just gone right in the dumper. I think Chara hurt a lot..Redden, not so much. And scoring depth is a problem. But I think it's more coaching and attitude. Same with Tampa..a few guys left but every team has turnover. Their #1 guys were still there..they just gave up on the coach, the owners are clowns and then they went in the crapper.

Just imagine, it's possible the Leafs could make the playoffs! With a bunch of nobodies..thanks to good coaching and work ethic. That's something..

Oh I think Price is a goof and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is a hard partier, after all the silver spoons that have been stuffed in his mouth, his confidence and ego are probably through the roof lol

Yes. Prior to this year they've made the post-season 11 consecutive years, and to the finals once. The Leaf's can claim neither of those statements, having not made it to the finals since 1967 and not made it to the post season for three years now ... so ya, finishing last for a buch of years in the 90's and drafting high picks year-after-year did work better.

Habs fire Carbonneau...didn't see that coming.. Do you think he was doing THAT bad a job?? And at this time of year??

Gainey has way too big of an ego to fire Carbonneau weeks left in the season to take up coaching himself. What exactly is he going to do different? Maybe he should have signed Streit (the heart of their powerplay last year).
