who are you to decide who "deserves" a playoff spot or not? they're in 11th place by 2 points, so if they beat the other 3 teams ahead of them by 1 point, how can they "Deserve" it more than the other 3?

Its my opinion. So its up to me to decide.


Now why i think they don't deserve to be there... well, for many reasons.
We have only 3 players in 20+ goals. And besides Sundin, rest barely broke that 20 mark...
We are a slower team, slower then many.
Our defense sucks and overpaid - there is no way McCabe and Kubina worth 5 mills a pop, they way they move (actually not move) the puck, underskate and make stupid plays - these two worth 4 mills together... and thats if McCabe will continue slaming puck at the net (thats the only thing he's good at) and Kubina steps up his phisical game. Raycroft is not a playoff goalie, and definately not a Stanley Cup goalie - he is ranked what? 30 something out of active goalies?
Lets face it, Antropov, Poni, Wellwood, Stajan, Perrault, Steen, Bataglia - put them into any strong team (i.e. Buffalo, Detroit, Atlanta, Nashville, Jersey etc) there is no way in hell any of them will make 1st or 2nd line. They're 3rd line players, maaay be a couple deserve 2nd line when they're on their game...

Now we do have a resourceful coach, and those players that we have (for rare exceptions) put their 110% out there. So they might make it, but i still think they don't deserve it.

Who to blame? FERGUSON. Useless tit. All he is good at is trading away draft picks, and picking up idiots like Berg and Khavanov. The only thing that came good out of him is Gill... Pecca seemed okay - but u get an old player - u get injuries.

NOW - this is MY opinion and you don't have to agree with it. I watch every leafs game and hope they'll make it. On the other hand, if them not making it 2nd year in a row will get rid of our GM and put in motion major team restructuring - i'm all for it.

Because hockey success is measured in plays, goals and talent - not in giving it 110%. If u're a slow skater, a crappy goalie or can't handle the puck - you can give it 200% - it won't do you any good.

lol... i still say effort has some part in "deserving" something, but in what you stated above, a lot of ppl will shout "WTF" when that person does make it

You now what would be fun? Going this coming saturday night to some bar near air canada center and yelling the same thing out loud. You should do it - especially if leafs will loose.
 
Just got back from the game, I sat in the golds in the corner. Each ticket was $171.60. A friend of mine got the tickets and offered one to me. I had a great time and the overtime win was great. BUT, there is always a "but", the prices of food, parking, beer, etc is outragous ! I don't feel sorry for those over paid poeple what so ever. That place makes money "hand over foot", and I believe the only idiots in this whole sport is us, the fans who pay and go to these games.
It's like a drug, just keep on watching, I guess I'm addicted too. GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!

Becuase 90% of tickets for the good seats never reach "average joe" leaf fan - they all bought out by companies and corporations to be given out as presents and insentives. Its a hockey nation - nottin we can do.

The thread title is correct and the best thing that can happen to the Leafs is for them to start losing and not making it to the playoffs at all.

We see tonight against Montreal. Also depends on the Islanders aswell.
 
Thats the problem with the Leafs... they squeak in, make management happy, make the owners some good playoff money and sucker the fans into believing there's a chance.

Rinse, repeat.

They need to start getting crushed and not making it to the playoffs... so that the owners and managers can get a fking clue and realize they need to make some big changes to the team.
