Macdocs Lament ••• Forks - same old same old, maybe a bit better.

Hoping to get weight bearing clearance for broken leg tomorrow - make my life much easier
I have 80 days to get sorted enough to get on a plane back to Oz. I'm sure my arm will be functional this month.
Think leg will be weight bearing very soon.....make all mobility issues easier

Thanks - anyone with "how long to get useful" heal up stories appreciated.
I don't think you'll like my story. Broken fibula with plate and complete ankle reconstruction. On my back for far too long. No weight bearing or driving for months. Able to start physio four or five months after injury. Frequent physio for months. Last visit to doc was seven months after injury. Still had progress to make but didn't need to see him again (unless I want the plate out which I am leaning towards doing next spring).

I'm so grateful I have no ankle or knee involvement. Just a big fat titanium pin.

Clavicle in improving rapidly.
That's good news. I think most of the slow pace of my recovery was related to ankle. Doc could care less about the bone once it was plated. Load the ankle too early and you can be back to square one (including ankle reconstruction again).

Yeah - that's my thought. The step through on the SMax likely saved my foot and knee as neither even had any bruising,
I’d say you’re luckier than that. The fact it was a big scooter and seeing the hit…you’d probably have lost a leg on a normal bike.

HeHe thanks
My missing helmet surfaced at SunnyBrook - should get it today
You crashed in Mississauga and ended up at Sunnybrook? They must have been worried about you. Glad the injuries weren't as bad as they feared.

All the traumas go to SunnyBrook. When I was there we had four riders, two girls two guys and 4 broken legs
I also had a fair bit of blood on me from the broken leg
Was quite happy I was out cold

Sitting up on edge of bed to eat this morning. Unassisted

Going to be quiet weekend and I have no room mate so good healing time after yesterday travel stress.

Did have a good sleep - hauled myself into position - enjoyed eating upright with both hands tho shoulder still saggy. Have a plot to get well enough to travel on my own at least back to Japan then with partner to Cairns IF needed. 70 days out
Tasty supper with very nicely prepared chicken, red bean rice and zucchini for veg.
Noticed my ribs sore after sitting - seems I took a bigger hit than I thought. Panadol running out so aches more obvious.

hmmmm BP 120 over 80 even the nurse was startled. (y)
