Macdocs Lament ••• Forks - same old same old, maybe a bit better.

Got bored of riding the Forks back and forth so to make it interesting , I ride it at night. Nice and calm. Lots of bugs tho.

I'm convinced it's slightly haunted tho (the road).

I'm sorry to see this thread took a turn for the worse...that's a nasty blow after all those years of riding MacDoc. At least you're here to tell the tale. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

The guy formerly known as Mladin.

Not in a hospital but in an recovery program that leads to fully functional recovery.
Cooksville Care Centre also has a separate 32-bed Restore Unit, which supports short-term stays until residents are strong and independent enough to return to their homes. Our multi-disciplinary Restore program team specializes in restorative care and is dedicated to the rehabilitation of our residents to ensure their return to their own homes.
...likely 70 more days to be able to get on a plane home.
I'll be day tripping out in a bit to visit the kid who is home now once I get a bit more mobile.
I'm only just now able to sit up on edge of bed and eat meals. Healing proceeds apace.
Next is transition from bed to wheel chair and walker. Long weekend put a short dent in progress but injuries need healing time.
Then fracture assessment end of month. Screen Shot 2021-08-05 at Aug, 5 2021 5.43.35 PM copy.jpg
Wallowing in Blue Heelers at sparrows waiting on brekkie.

Rode through the Forks yesterday. Someone had dropped a bunch of straw or hay on the hair pin. At first I thought maybe to soak up an oil spill, but I don’t think so. Road to Terra Cotta all ripped up, slight detour around it into Glen Williams and a stop at the Café/ Market place.

It's actually woodchips on the road. Will need to swept off cause the wind from passing vehicles won't blow them off the road

Lunch in the cafeteria ..called barbeque but .....hamburger was okay...soup very good, tea still marginal.
......
Have a room mate now - older .... just listened to a DNR conversation. 😒
Still recall the one with my dad.... I'm such a naif ....had not even been to a funeral tll my 60s .....no one died I was close to....both parents lived to 95. Good genes if I can stay healthy and vital as my dad did. Mom was healthy but a happy vegetable.
Somewhat unnerving being in a recovery program population mixed with long term care. Sobering.

I used to ride at night in the summer ....nervous about deer tho. Liked the back roads towards KW.
Kid and I were out and we ran into a swarm of midges.....his helmet was almost blacked out.
I should be back riding in Aus in November. 🏍️

Might be my last go in Canada other than kids eScoot.

Went through Haliburton Monday night. Between entering from Harburn Road and exiting town on 21, we saw 23 deer munching peoples lawns. Yikes. No deer for rest of trip.

Doing deficiencies for a window company in a recently occupied building I needed to do a spot of clean up. Seeing a couple of maintenance men nearby I asked where I could get some warm soapy water.

One suggested the cafeteria. His partner, with a heavy Scottish accent, said "Ask for tea."

Small pleasures...been a long time between shaves.

Nurses making my day guessing my age. I think the helmet sitting on the shelf influences them :D
56 is the low guess.....
Impatient to get to the next fracture clinic so I can get arm and leg on weight bearing. Wheel chair is not friendly to my sciatica so the sooner a walker the better.
Should have grabbed earplugs earlier.....good sleeps now and circulating orders NOT to wake me. (y) Things progress.

Unfortunately kid is struggling with cramps in both legs below the knee. Can't walk. :(
He's at home but bed bound until he gets some medcal help on Monday

Off to watch Oppenheimer in 70 mm on Saturday. A bit nervous as will be longer in the wheelchair than my daily jaunts ...it's hard on my sciatica tho sore ribs and shoulder are gone.
Will drug up and count on Nolan's magic.
I've almost finished the biography the movie is based on. Gives me a goal to get into street clothes and go out with the kids.

End of month will see leap forward as second fracture assessment will be completed.

.......

Really good but long day in the wheelchair - 7hr +
worth it but sore
