Been a couple of years since I've been.
Better umbrellas and tables ...a nice shelter in the back corner where I'm parked for a while ( likely needed later today ). https://radar.weather.gov/?settings=v1_eyJhZ2VuZGEiOnsiaWQiOiJ3ZWF0aGVyIiwiY2VudGVyIjpbLTc5LjE2Miw0NC4xNzhdLCJsb2NhdGlvbiI6Wy03OS4xNjEsNDQuMTc3XSwiem9vbSI6N30sImFuaW1hdGluZyI6dHJ1ZSwiYmFzZSI6InN0YW5kYXJkIiwiYXJ0Y2MiOmZhbHNlLCJjb3VudHkiOmZhbHNlLCJjd2EiOmZhbHNlLCJyZmMiOmZhbHNlLCJzdGF0ZSI6ZmFsc2UsIm1lbnUiOnRydWUsInNob3J0RnVzZWRPbmx5IjpmYWxzZSwib3BhY2l0eSI6eyJhbGVydHMiOjAuOCwibG9jYWwiOjAuNiwibG9jYWxTdGF0aW9ucyI6MC44LCJuYXRpb25hbCI6MC42fX0=

Food is a bit of a step up I think but bacon and egg breakfsat sandwich a good value at $8.50 and lots of goodies that will blunt my Ozempic effort. Butter tarts not around in Australia and I'm treating myself.

Same mix of loud pipes and the rest.....people out hoping the Tstorms hold off.
I must admit a Shelby Mustang was louder than them all and I was sitting right behind the beast.
It was yellow and very handsome and very loud.

My hips are still complaining about the seat on the SMax 155 Really have to think about what to do short of a Corbin which just too much money. :(
Other than that the bike is fine.

But it's a constant issue - still chasing solution and upholstery guys very busy.

Couple of staff I recognize up here and expect a few riders a some point. Ice cream cones are disasters waiting to happen given the heat.
Waiting for Mimico to show up with his new ride with character....:D

Saw a few riders I knew there ....it was not all that crowded ( being morning on a Sat long weekend ) but it was building up when I headed home. Thought I was getting wet but we seemed to dodge it.
Slept the heat away and spent evening turning off the bike alarm thanks to the fireworks 🎆

Old body still adjusting to new bike so the Forks ride is just about as far as I want to go on a single run. 60 km each way but good to get acquainted with the bike. First fill up tomorrow.
Amount of traffic lights annoying but it's a straight run from my place to the Forks and the lights are timed such that I don't hit many reds.

It had been years since I've driven or ridden on Mississauga Road south of Belfountain. On a recent ride through the area I was surprised at the number of new traffic signals that have been installed. However, the one at Olde Base Line Road wasn't a compete surprise because of the poor nightlines and the speed that most drive along Mississauga Road through that intersection.

I have never stopped in the Village while riding through there because it always looks too crowded and I'm just not into that scene. $8.50 for a sandwich doesn't sound too bad, as long as the coffee is less than $2.50.

Years ago I bought a used Corbin for my ST and it's the most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever had. I'm not sure if there are any used ones available for your new ride, or if another aftermarket seat maker might have a more reasonably priced option, but if you're planning to ride a lot, or keep this ride for any length of time, a better seat is a good investment.

Remember this is just a temporary ride while dealing with my son's illness otherwise would be all over the Corbin option.
It's actually not a comfort issue from the seat aspect but there is not enough room to stretch legs before you hit the backstop - 6" more room it would be fine.
I actually think I might be able to adapt to the existing seat as don't intend anything more than maybe a two hour jaunt from home and given I can alternate between feet up and feet flat.... I might just be okay.

I'm big on third party seats and have bought and sold numerous. Most comfortable was the Daylong with the backrest on the Burgman 650 - the only seat I could do 1000 km days. I have sciatica so it's always a challenge.

I ride or drive the Forks of the Credit once a year, at most. With low speed limits and anti parking traffic cones everywhere it's fairly obvious the locals are sick of all of the extra people flocking there to see the sites or drive / ride the roads. Frankly, I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

If you're looking for a 10 hour+ 1,000 km seat the Russell RDL is the way to go. At about $1,000 with postage there and back not cheap, but if you're in the saddle all day on multiple day trips you'll probably never regret buying a RDL.

How long you in town for @MacDoc, kinda surprised to see you back here again.

Forks is a nice area but too busy, ride through about once a year, generally do not stop at Belfountain. Prefer surrounding areas like Terra Cotta more.

Back until at least Sept and possible into October ....have an ill son to keep company with.
Will be back again next year in April. One reason I bought a bit better bike so I have some reliable cheap to run wheels for the period. Will visit some friends.
I'm okay with the Forks as always get there before the crowds and leave early. I have friends that come up too.
I guess Hockley will be next.
HOCKLEY GENERAL STORE AND RESTAURANT, Mono Mills - Menu, Prices & Restaurant Reviews - Tripadvisor
Glad to see them open again.
Stil undecided what to do about the seat. That ride will let me know what I can tolerate.

Hockley Valley Road is nice and a lot less crowded.
I have this strange feeling they will start putting the squeeze on that area as well. They dropped the speed for most of it. Plus there have been some construction in the area, better road surface, but might mean overhauling how much they want them used.

The "squeeze" has been in effect on Hockley for the past several years. Apparently one of the locals was able to convince Mono area councillors that the speed limit on the Hockley Road approaches to Airport Road should be reduced to 50 kph. I don't recall hearing about a sudden rash of collisions that would require this change; it came about because one or two residents felt that pulling in or out of their driveway was dangerous. BTW, the local OPP love to sit in that area to enforce the limit, particularly on weekends.

20th Side Road / River Road north of Mansfield has also experienced the "don't come riding in my area" mentality. Some sections of that road were previously signed at 80 kph. It's now all 50 and 60 kph, with several "Community Safety Zones" added for extra fun. Again, beware on weekends!

Sitting out the heat warning. Too warm to be out in gear and usual haunts not open early enough. 28 at 11 am and humid. I'll wait til Friday with a 5+ degree drop. Good book to read - some close by errands to run, new riding jacket arriving and some scripts to get. Should be okay sitting outside reading - just not riding any distance.

Whatever happened to 7 am openings ??

Walmart and Home Hardware are open at 7am in my area. Best time to shop at either.

You are correct on coffee tho a steeped tea with 3 milk and one sugar and an Apple Fritter remains on the occasional indulgence.
I lived on Tim's chilli w a toasted bun, an apple fritter plus the tea coming back from BC on the CB500x. Was still under $10 in 2019. Seems not far off now.
Looks like it's still around $9 + tax for large tea, fritter and chilli - that's okay.
Their menu is impossible to navigate on their site but this is okay
....the bowl looks okay too - is any fast food place NOT doing chicken?

The other staple on that ride was A&W - there were many across the prairies leaving from Hinton Al - even some of the old style with parking lot service tho not sure the roller skate service was live.

Teen burger, onion rings and unlimited root beer covered enough calories for the long days.```
Was nice to see one in the small towns on the Northern TransCanada route.
Touring days are done but still some fun within 200 km radius near me for day trips,
