Look outside...WOULD YOU RIDE TODAY??

Same here in the parking lot at work and there is some on the roads where the lot salters must've stopped. Salt doesn't bother me, though. I just load the rust proofing on, heh.

Seriously?
You guys are complaining about salt?
Never mind the sub zero temps, salt is what's making you not ride today?

I dont get the salt arguement in general. Moat people avoiding riding due to salt will probably have their bike stolen anyways. Salt that @#%& up yo! Perhaps a few rust spots will work as a theft deturant

Salt matters to the riders still out there.. :( lol
If I were out there, I wouldn't care. If the temperature isn't forecasting snow/rain and the roads are dry, I'll probably be out again, regardless of salt. The only reason I didn't ride all week is because The Weather Network kept predicting snow and/or rain and if they said it was clear then the radio was telling me it was going snow/rain.

Yeah I don't get it. Salt should be one of your last worries about riding in this weather.

The only salt I saw today was the parking area at York. The only thing I was worried about while riding was my frozen finger tips =/

I rode in today. Extremely foggy in my area when I left but cleared up as I got closer to downtown. I had to ride with my visor up as the fog made it filthy to the point that I could not see out of it at all so I just stayed off the highway. Commuting to work and back twice today, I saw 4 radar traps along the Lakeshore between Park Lawn and Bathurst.

I wash my bike daily. Or every other day if I'm busy. Does the brine only affect the cosmetics or is there more damage being done?

Its a construction zone and 2-4 cops are there from 10-5 everyday. I have never seen so many people nailed in a day. I am doing security at the abandoned 4 points Sheraton hotel at Windermere and lakeshore. All day I saw cops nailing cars, didn't see a motorcycle get nailed as yet.

Of course it's all about salt. You can always dress more warmly.
(and corner more slowly!)

Snowmobilers go out in these temperatures no probs.

I still rode, I didn't see salt on the roads on public streets, the salt I was worried was in the property where I live. And have you guys ever rode over gravel and slipped? Same thing goes for salt, I'd be worried on some turns.

Monday will be 14* and the rain on Sunday should clear some of the road grime. I love Mondays off

Dumb and stubborn to ride home tonight, but I managed to get it home safe!

The last 5kms were feet down, 8kph and nooooooooooooooo brakes! Any touch of the front brakes was instant lock! The snow had more traction than the black iced left lanes!

You can see my footprints in the background "saddle walking" / limping the Pani home.

Holy **** !!!

Here I was thinking that mine was a story to tell on a 250 lol

Is that an 848 ?

I started riding in early November. During the safety, done by Ted, I was told I needed new tires so i have been riding very carefully, especially on turns; tires to come in 2013. The bike was winterized and put away this past Thursday.

To answer the thread question, will I be riding in the cold next year? you bet. But only as long as I can get in to work early in order to leave early to avoid the evening rush hour in the dark.

Why would u risk an expensive bike or expose it to salt?
