Ottawa Police Confirm No Firearms Found During Clearing of Convoy Protests

Lmao Trudeau implemented the war measures act for unarmed protestors... no wonder he took a beating at the European parliament when he preached democracy.

Yeah, they'd leave their guns behind.......but take the bouncy castle and the hot tub.

Ottawa Police Confirm No Firearms Found During Clearing of Convoy Protests

Oddly enough, that's not what the interim chief said. He very carefully refused to answer the question as stated, which makes me wonder what actually occurred. He was asked if loaded shotguns were found in trucks. He responded that no firearms charges were laid. This was unresponsive to the direct question he was asked. He was asked if the government was informed that firearms were found. He responded that the government would be informed if charges were laid. Again, this was unresponsive to the direct question that he was asked.

That he phrased his responses in political double-talk is troubling. It reveals nothing of the actual situation. It would seem that this interim chief is no less political than was the former chief. Why could he not simply respond to the question, as asked? "No charges have been laid" does not indicate that no weapons were found, but rather that no one has (as yet) been charged with weapons offences. This could be for a variety of reasons; they found weapons and haven't tied them to individuals yet, they found weapons but haven't decided which charges are applicable, or they haven't found any weapons.

He could have sheepishly stated that they found a couple of pocket knifes...

You'd need a pretty broad definition of international trade corridors to include the ottawa group.

I would say having to shut down the Hose of Commons and the Senate for a day counts as a threat to national security.

"The House of Commons and Senate were shut down Friday in anticipation of the disruptive encounter between police and protesters, which resulted in more than 100 arrests and hours of tense standoffs outside the Parliament buildings."

I'm not saying Ottawa wasnt a problem, just you shouldn't use the trade corridor argument for that group. As for ******** parliament, all they do is bicker anyway. When they stay home, the same amount of work gets done, we just have less clips of bickering for the news.

Perhaps, but we all, collectively, elected them to bicker on our behalf. If they can't do that because of some fringe wingnuts, then those wingnuts are actively blocking the processes of our elected government.

The interim Chief of Police refused to answer the question "Did you find any guns?"

If they did find any guns.. they would have announced it loudly at the time. They probably would have made the announcement to make it sound worse than it actually was... like they did for the guns found "at the protest" in AB

Well logic says that once they saw the situation anyone with a truck and a gun would have been the ones who ran, as they gave everyone an exit and did not kettle them in (and plenty of the "I will die" people ran away with their trucks etc. when it got real). In Coutts, it was more of a raid that found the guns etc. so no telegraphing, no chance to run. For Ottawa, we will never know one way or the other, and I guess in the end that is better than kettling and additional violence...

As for border crossings, Ontario dealt with ours with a provincial SoE. Coutts "just happened" to end as the federal SoE came in, RCMP were clear this was a factor in negotiation along with the found guns, Kenney claims it was all him and a total coincidence....

At the end of the day JT gave the police the power and the ability to ramp up scale to make the freedumbers theirs and his little bitches. Funny how they are not blocking things like the were.... they finally learned how to protest their rights without stomping on other people's rights for extended periods of time. No issue with any of that!
