Can't say one way or another in this specific case but steroid use is a big issue and IMO a blood sample should be required in any case like this....
One of my customers is an officer on stress leave and big into bodybuilding/working out. I could tell he has a VERY short fuse just from interacting with him, friendly to me, but wouldn't want to say the wrong thing at a traffic stop to him. Also he does fiberglass pools and landscaping all summer long and deals in cash if anyone needs one :)

He'll probably end up with PTSD from a job related accident. Early retirement? Why not.
Only being investigated by professional standards. They arent even leaving the possibility of a criminal charge open. You try having a negligent discharge in city limits and see if you get a similar pass. Police special treatment of themselves is so blatant they dont even try to argue it doesnt exist anymore.

It would very rare for a regular citizen to have a legit reason to be handling a loaded gun in public within city limits.
If the cop had a legit reason to have his gun out... then I think it would be very hard, or impossible, to pursue cc charges.

He obviously doesnt deserve a charge for having the loaded gun. He deserves a charge for doing something stupid with it. Shooting yourself in the leg and hand requires a considerable amount of unsafe activity. I am sticking with a normal person that fired a round in toronto would get a charge even if it didnt hit anyone. The fact that it hit someone would almost guarantee a conviction.

Just listened to an interview with Mark Mendelson on AM1010. He said that info from reliable sources say that the gun may not have been his service revolver.

So he was showing off his burner piece that was supposed to be planted on a perp? Are cops in Canada allowed a backup piece?

Not saying what he did wasn't stupid.

I listened to a Mark Mendelson interview on 1010 as well.... not sure if same one as wingboy listened to. I didn't hear him say anything about the gun not being the cop's service Glock. He did talk abut their guns not having a safety and always having a round chambered.

I've seen pathetic contributions to threads before, and it looks just like this one.

It was near the end of the interview. Maybe you missed some?

So what? Safety or not, something pulled the trigger while the muzzle was pointed at a person. There's at least two criminally negligent failures at the same time.
