I can't lump police in as just 'typical' public servants. they are depended on to keep 'us' safe.

The police do very little to "keep us safe". That's PR schtick for keeping budgets from getting cut.
The only thing keeping you safe is you and some luck.
'Sorry if I come of as cynical, but... From what I've seen in 30 years That's where I'm coming from now.

Sir Robert Peels principles of policing 'used" to be the go to philosophy on how to operate... I don't think many current cops ever heard of him.

As far as being held to a higher standard... or holding themselves to a higher standard...
Lets not forget the vast majority are good people and good at their jobs. We only hear about (some of) the fall-downs.

I like the last line. "The SIU investigation into the killing continues.". Good on the reporter for calling it like it is. At best it was a hopelessly bungled operation. At worst, something very nefarious is going on as apparently bringing an ambulance to a raid is never done.

"no Knock" warrants were apparently secured using charges from 50 yrs ago what the gunsmith was charged with possession of pot in a quanity police thought could be trafficed ( dime bag) . Toronto police did not notify Simcoe/Brant police as they may be "in on " whatever was going on out there in pumpkinville .

Somebody should get fired for even authorizing this mess , let alone the cop that fired 4 rounds into the poor guy

If that were true... There would be a lot less incidents and "fall-downs" for us to hear about.

7.5 year custodial sentence for a cop. Richard Senior has been sentenced and has now been converted to suspension without pay (again, wtf, he stole a police shotgun to use in a robbery and then got paid full salary for years, ridiculous).

Edit:
It will be interesting to see what the runkle of the bailey has to say. A 10 year firearm prohibition seems lighter than your or I would get for stealing a police firearm to use in a robbery.

Interesting. Something stinks here. Guy runs over cop in parking garage and everything gets covered in a court ordered cloak of silence. Politicians and police publicly bash defendant. Defendant petitions court to be open (normally cloak is used to protect defendant), court shuts him down. Cloak remains intact.

Whooops. When the supervisor crashes into someone, who do they call?

Kipling Ave. is closed in both directions at Beaconhill for a collision involving a Toronto Police car. One man suffered non-life threatening injuries. A police spokesperson says no indication of a pursuit at the time of the crash.

Probably another supervisor.

You sweep it under the rug and look the other way

To be clear we’re all human and capable of mistakes. But I suspect this will get a mild tongue lashing at best

That may be all that is deserved. If police departments still self-insure, that will cost Toronto residents $10K plus so there should be some effort put into discouraging others from doing the same thing. It would be very reasonable to pull their phone records and pin them to the wall if they were using a phone for a non-official purpose when it happened.

Its just a lot of paperwork to sort out, its hard to drive vehicles 24hrs a day in all weather and not bang a few up. My buddy crashed a Peel firetruck with his captain in the passenger seat, want to see expensive repairs? crash a firetruck

That York officer with corruption , theft, lying, stealing a police shotgun . That whole story became clear when they mentioned Steriod sales. Want to see crazy? police men taking steroids to be bigger and scarier.

Driver of the blue car issued a ticket for unsafe reverse driving... Lol.

**** happens .. Looks like a greasy road.

hmm no mention if careless driving charge was issued... same with OPP officer that rear ended car that crashed into 2 more cars sept 29th 2021 on QEW in Burlington no word or confirmation of any charges issued..

Sometimes y'know.... charges arent laid even when it looks like they're warranted.
Extremely bad weather/road conditions can preclude the issuance of a ticket...

Although... In that pic the road doesn't look too bad so maybe the driver will end up charged

You put the body of the pedestrian you killed in the back seat of your car and took it home to tell you mother????? This, gentlemen, is the new benchmark.

Mom's no prize, either.

"According to an affidavit of probable cause signed by a state trooper, Guzman informed Santiago’s mother that her son had struck a man while driving drunk and the body was in the Honda.

She went to speak with Santiago and then walked over to the car to see the body, the affidavit says.

That’s when she allegedly instructed him to return the dead man to the crash scene, the affidavit says."
