A lot more needs to happen, in that case, than just going after the officer who screwed up. There's an institutional issue in play. Why was a raw rookie the "only officer on duty", after a month's worth of experience in policing? Anywhere else such an officer would be working with a training officer. Not only did the officer screw up; the system screwed up.

Yes there were many screw ups here. I don't get how someone with 4 prior sexual assault convictions was out in public, anyway, but I don't know how our system deals with that. I'm guessing terribly.

Remember, Aboriginal communities have the option of dealing with offenders using their own traditional system of justice. It might have been ours. It might have been theirs. Someone familiar with the community might have known his background. Someone who had only been around for a few weeks might not have known.

In his ruling, Fitches wrote that Nesbeth’s “usefulness to the Windsor Police Service has been annulled.”
“I remain unconvinced as to her recognition of the seriousness of her behaviour over many, many months and there are no indications that I can point to that suggest that reform or rehabilitation is likely or even possible,” he wrote.

Was she on duty when crossing the border with the undeclared alcohol? How many of us haven't done the same as her? For me this (what the judge stated) is what bothers me more in the situation. We all make mistakes. If we don't learn from the mistake then we are making another additional mistake.

When this story first broke there were details like her threatening the CBSA agents when she was caught and then returning later in uniform driving a marked police cruiser and threatning them agin this time while she was on the clock
And yes the greedy c**t has appealed the ruling and is back collecting her unearned pay

Meh the I don't think the cops overreacted too much. It could have ended with a warning, but the guy did put his hand in the car. Who knows what happened before he started filming and what moves the guy made after he put his hand in the car.

BUT TPA calling it baiting is retarded. wtf are these guys 12? The should know what they are doing, and stand by it. Calling it baiting, just shows they are stupid pigs.

reaching in, could get you some trouble but when he didn't actually do anything does it warrant the beating?

It warrants an arrest, which could result in someone resisting arrest, which in turn could result in the cops taking the guy down to the ground. Whether there was a beat-down or not is not clear from the video. What is apparent is that there was a struggle.

If that is true then the judge is also part of the problem as they upheld that charge.

When Cornwall police arrived at a domestic disturbance call last weekend, they thought they would be called on to protect, but they ended up serving.

Officers determined an elderly woman, whom they declined to identify to protect her privacy, was suffering from dementia, and her husband was having trouble caring for her by himself.

There were no groceries in the house and the man explained he had started selling their possessions to make ends meet. Things had gotten so bad, he admitted to having pawned his wedding ring for food.

^ Saw this on the news yesterday. Two thumbs up.
This is the image the cops need to live up to, understanding the situation better so they can act accordingly.
Let's hope that good bunch rubs off on the rest of them.
You have a brain for a reason, use it.

Would it not have been easier to tase them under the guise of resisting arrest? Then they'd be up for three squares a day plus housing.

It is all over the news, and the talk shows. What kind of idiot sticks his head and hand inside a police car? The two most dangerous things a police officer does are attend domestic assault calls, and perform random traffic stops. They're on edge to start with.

No kidding.
