Re: Justice served....

You may have misread my post, I said canada should NEVER have followed the US... with hundreds of police forces in each state.

Yup, missed the 'never.' Sorry about that.

The Conservatives are also trying to follow the Americans with minimum sentences, increased penalties, and huge increases in prisons (that would likely lead to privatized prisons) when our system already works far better than does theirs.

Re: Justice served....

I can barely keep up with all the reports of criminal activity committed by police officers lately.

We'll see how much budget the cops get when the public figures out what a large criminal organization it is and loses all faith in the system .

PS> This is why we need to outfit them with cameras all the time, it will benefit both sides.

Cameras are the way to go.
As soon as the white hats have a chance of outnumbering the black ones, the police organization can get things on the right trail
When "serve and protect" starts to mean something again, and you don't read an article every day about some corrupt authority type, the people might embrace the system again.

Re: Justice served....

If the personal cameras the cops are wearing could not be tampered with and all footage collected could be verified as un-touched, then you would have some true accountability. But the police unions are never going to let that happen. Never.

Re: Justice served....

Is the Caledonia cluster**** a problem with the OPP or is it a problem with how our provincial government has decided to let them do whatever they want and the OPP have been instructed to stand down? I was under the impression that it was the latter.

The latter primarily. Too many years (decades) of weak-willed politicians that don't want to address the native issues has resulted in the situation we now have. The OPP, for the most part, are just caught in the middle of it. I know of a few OPP officers that met with a "career stop" when they challenged the orders given and others that just flat out resigned during the Caledonia debacle.

Re: Justice served....

Listen to this one to hear who is being reasonable, and who is being unreasonable.

Re: Justice served....

Video of arrestee being unreasonable. Did not think this possible. Will revisit police brutality mindset.

Yeah, that thief being caught and resisting shows two officers that are actually professional. They do exist. But then again, they also had a camera on them, which I think most people other than the police unions think is a great idea.

http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/2...viction_due_to_torture_by_toronto_police.html

Cops invloved in beating the guy have all been promoted since....
both of them were promoted before the ruling came out so saying they were promoted is a non-issue in terms of the article. that entire article is reporting one side of the story which is always the case with the star and always the accused version of events. they say half the beating occurred on video but where is this video, star always obtains it when it suites them through freedom of information. then they say police did not respond by the deadline but didn't say how long the deadline was, knowing the stars tactics it could be one day for all we know.

Resisting arrest = guilty. Shoot em in the face.
