If you scroll back through this thread, you can easily make the argument that the cops have just as many serious criminals as any other group.
Considering they should have a zero tolerance policy, it's a total insult to intelligent taxpayers.

I can make the argument, and have. Many times.

I was trying to be polite instead of a post full of insults and disappointment. :D

Miami Gardens sued over stop-and-frisks, aggressive police tactics

[h=3]BY JULIE K. BROWN[/h][h=3]JBROWN@MIAMIHERALD.COM[/h]The city of Miami Gardens is facing a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by 10 citizens who claim that its police officers, for years, have practiced a pattern of unconstitutional stop-and-frisks, searches, seizure and arrests in violation of the Fourth Amendment.
The 144-page lawsuit, filed late last week, was brought by Alex Saleh, owner of the 207 Quickstop, a convenience store at 3185 NW 207th St., and a group of his employees and customers. The action charges that police consistently used racial profiling in arresting the store’s largely African American employees and customers.
The suit came a week after The Miami Herald published a story, along with video clips, that showed how the city’s police officers have stopped and arrested people for minor infractions, then aggressively searched them.
One of the plaintiffs, Earl Sampson, an employee of the store, was stopped and questioned more than 250 times in the past four years. Almost all of his offenses were for trespassing, including several instances when Sampson was arrested for trespassing while working his shift at the store.

I love how the cops arrest an employee for trespassing while he is working his shift... how's that **** work... surprised they didn't arrest the owner for trespassing in his own store

Re: Justice served....

It's too bad he was the only one charged, i bet they assaulted and violated the rights of hundreds of people that day.

Re: Justice served....

Wow great... 3-1/2 years later one cop gets 45 days. Valuable lessons are learned!

Probably in solitary with cable and a PS4. The length in which it takes to find these ass holes guilty is what kills me

Re: Justice served....

His lawyer, Harry Black, urged the judge to give the officer an absolute discharge, saying his client has suffered enough with depression, anxiety and the break-up of his marriage after he was charged. Andalib-Goortani's "fragile" mental state has only worsened since his conviction, Black said.

Awww poor baby, let me shed a tear... Ooops.... It came out the wrong end, is a lot bigger than expected, brown in color and I'm feeling relieved  45 days is nothing considering the breach of public trust involved. Typically, regular citizens will get a lot more for non-violent offenses. He BETTER lose his job. With his violent temper, he wouldn't even be eligible to get a gun license as a regular citizen. Why should we hand his gun back to him along with the authority of the badge? Bye bye and good riddance!

Re: Justice served....

The appeal was filed and he was back out on bail within hours of being sentenced. This is still on-going.

Re: Justice served....

yep and not a day will be spent behind bars, it will be timed served and this nit-wit will be behind a desk till its out of sight and out of mind.

i can hear it now, well we had to put him back on the streets because of the 10% cut that was happening at city hall. blame on your councilors.

i like this statement:

"Citizens will respect the rule of law when they can be confident that those with the power to enforce our laws do so fairly," Botham said as Andalib-Goortani held his head in his hands. "When that trust is abused citizens need to know that police will be held accountable."

This whole police jurisdiction and 300 different services in the 1 province is ridiculous. Canada should never have followed the US structure for policing. It should ALL be 1 provincial police force "Ontario Police" and 1 federal police force "Mounties". Yes have traffic branch, homicide, drug enforcement divisions in each city but all should be under the same umbrella and have jurisdiction all over the province.

Also police being scared to "enter" a certain area should be a clear indication they are not doing their job and making that area "safe" in the first place.

You think that's how the Americans do it? They have FBI, ATF, SS, State police, County police, city police, local sheriff, ........ If anything they're more of a jumble than we are.

You may have misread my post, I said canada should NEVER have followed the US... with hundreds of police forces in each state.
