Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

In the email that Randy got, Paul said he didn't want to set a temperature. Wanted to leave it up to the rider since each rider has a different idea of what is acceptable.

But at a certain point temperature becomes a safety hazard too - tires don't get to temperature, cold track etc etc etc...

here is what I got this morning which didn't really answer what I was asking. If by thursday the forcast doesn't improve I'm going to request a cancelation of the transaction, or to switch to other days. Sucks, but what can you do

Hi Deb,

I'm sure your getting a flood of email by now give then weather forecast for this weekend. It is slightly too early to tell, but if the high is < 10 degrees for the day, that seems a bit chilly to be on the track, in my opinion. During the discussion with Paul, he did not disclose a number where it was considered too cold. Is it up to the rider? Is it up to GB? if the weekend does get cancelled, will GB schedule a makeup weekend?

SOAR and VVRA are also here this weekend so they would have some say in the matter. Since most of our weekends are booked with rentals or events (on the road course, motocross and dragstrip) I’m not sure there is room for a makeup weekend. We do have other lapping days scheduled throughout the season. The earliest I would processing the orders is Friday so we will have a better idea by then.
Regards
Deb

Well, let's see if they call/email us on Saturday.
I've emailed a few times now - any one else want to bug them and ask what their temperature cut off is?

I agree, but it's still not really their call. If somebody has super soft rain tires and wants to run some easy laps at 0 degrees to scrub in the tires or to test something else, why not?

Maybe at some point they could take a vote from the riders present whether to cancel the whole day and close the track so the workers don't need to stay... I've been to a few track days where there was only one person on track for the first few sessions, so there's always somebody willing to go for it.

Well, I've decided I'm going if it's not raining/snowing.
Want to give Suzi a bit of a shakedown and get an idea of how she rides before Shannonville etc.

So, out of our little group, it looks like there's a few guys who aren't going who thought they were. Chances are, other people who were going to attend are thinking the same way....
With any luck, Less People = More Track Time for Me. :)

Who isn't planning to go now? You, me, Jawad, Dean, Randy, Dan? I think we could be in for a gem of a day if it happens to warm up a bit. In 2010 I did an SMP Nelson day at the end of the season and it was chilly early in the day, and not many people showed. Ended up being only two groups, so even with the rain that came in at 3:00 we got more track time than a regular day. I threw down my personal best lap time that day too, despite the temps.

Well, according to what I saw....
Randy - on the fence depending on temperature
Steve - on the fence depending on temperature
Dave - thought you were on the fence due to potential temperatures too, which would me Jawad would be out too, right?
Dan and Dean - no indication either way yet.

last year at nelson may.2 @ SMP there were only a couple bikes, drizzled most of the morning, only 7 guys ran, by noon there were only 4 bikes, rain stopped, track was 1/2 dry by 2pm, and from 3-5 there was lonely CBR going round and round. Great day on an open track.

yeah, not sure yet, thursday I will see what the weather calls for. Would rather bank the days and use them when its warmer out, although I do love when there is only 1 or 2 groups, so not sure yet

I was on the fence, then signed up as soon as Randy got that email from Paul about the rain policy. I'll be there, for sure.

Randy don't remind about that damned day last year... We left right before it cleared up.

I'm in for sure and last time dean and I spoke he was in to .... So count us in.

Got some battleship steel to put in your pants for the as* kicking you're about to receive? hehehehe,...

I hope we end up with only two groups, or an open track if we're really lucky ;)

hahaha.... sure sure. You've been having some wild dreams lately. ;)

This is awesome. In reality we're all going to be tiptoeing it around because it will be so cold. haha

becomes a case of who has the hottest warmers. Temps will be cool, but the need to get track time in is killing me, I'll decide tomorrow
